Hi, I've recently stated taking Metformin for PCOS but have heard Inofolic can help regulate your periods. I'm trying to find out if they can be taken together. Can anyone clarify this for me??
Thanks

I have been taking them together. I did get pregnant 6 weeka after taking inofolic as well as the metformin but I had a miscarriage. I would recommend it as I had been trying almost a year at that point

Thank you for your reply. I have just ordered some, worth a go Smile

Hello,
Does anyone else take both at the same time? Thanks x

G3ma · 09/12/2018 17:07

My consultant told me it was safe to take both at the same time. I have since started clomid and continued to take Metformin and inofolic also.

@G3ma Thank you. Are you experiencing and side effects so far?

G3ma · 10/12/2018 09:34

There are no side effects with inofolic. I had to increase Metformin slowly. I never managed 3 a day without side effects so only take 2 a day, one with breakfast and another with my evening meal.

What does metformin do, is it similar to spironalactone? I’m hoping to start TTC in the new year but terrified to come off Yasmin as last time I did I got awful acne again and my hair loss got even worse! Thanks

G3ma · 10/12/2018 19:39

Spironolactone is a diuretic but I've read it also treats acne. Metformin is used by diabetics but the is a small amount of research that suggests it helps regulate your cycle when you are diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. They are 2 different medications. There might be something else you can use when you come of contraception.
I didn't realise I had PCOS until I came off the pill.

Long-term metfomin user here. Just wanted to say that if you ride it out, your body will get used to it and the side effects will go. Secondly, my periods have been 28-day perfect since being on metformin. I know it isn’t exactly what you asked but this has come up in the thread, so thought I would contribute

G3ma · 10/12/2018 20:27

@Klobuchar That's really good to hear. I've just noticed 3 a day doesn't suit my stomach. Since starting clomid my cycle has become shorter. Originally I was 40 to 44 days.

I’m on day 5 of Inofolic in addition to metformin and I’m finally feeling normal again. The first few days were tough, I was constantly hungry and had on and off headaches...

Abiv123 · 30/12/2019 17:18

This is exactly what’s happened to me I’ve never known anyone else that was on yasmin! How you getting on? My skin is awful and it’s been a year now :(

MrsTTTC · 08/07/2020 19:01

Hey, just thought I'd see how you were all getting on with Inofolic? I've just started it, currently have INCREDIBLY long periods (just 1 or 2 a year) also about to go low carb & low GI diet wise to shift some of this weight to try and get some regularity. Just seen mixed responses on Inofolic X Smile
