Hi there

Looking for recommendations or tips to improve fertility and chances of getting lucky.

Any changes to diet we could make? Vitamin supplements? Or lifestyle changes?

We were lucky with DS as we didn't even have to try!

This month I shall attempt OPKs. BBT measuring didn't work out as I never get that recommended amount of solid sleep nor wake at same time due to DS still nightwaking.

Thank you!

(PS only cycle #7 with 2 month break. I appreciate many peoole are trying for a lot longer)

Xx

I stopped drinking. We'd been trying for ages and the month I stopped drinking we conceived. I didn't even drink a lot before! Will never know if it was just a coincidence though.

Other than that we just keep healthy and I take folic acid.

snowedin24674 · 02/03/2018 10:37

Not a diet thing but after ttc for two years I got a lubricant called conceive plus (was willing to try anything at this point) it may have been a coincidence but got pregnant with DD that month. It's suppose to create a good environment for the sperm and help it reach the egg. Good luck!

SqidgeBum · 02/03/2018 12:40

I try to eat well, I take folic acid and evening primrose oil, he takes vitamin C every day. We have just started using a lubricant during my FW called preseed which is supposed to help make the swimmers happy. After that its just try to keep calm (I do yoga), although I have a stressful job so I dont think that helps things. We are on cycle 8 TTC #1. We werent really doing anything bar the obvious up to last month.

Don't smoke , cut down or stop alcohol , make sure you're not fat and there's no such thing as too much sex

thenorthernluce · 02/03/2018 12:58

I saw a reflexologist to make my menstrual cycle shorter (35 days down to 29). After a few months of shorter cycles, when we were ready to start trying to conceive, I tracked basal body temp and we had sex on the day of ovulation according to my temp. It worked and I was pregnant, first time!

fannythrobbing · 02/03/2018 13:08

Took folic acid daily, sorted my diet out, stopped drinking, had some acupuncture and did some mindfulness meditation (have a stressful job and had three miscarriages one after another) took some coq10 ubiquinol as I'd read that may help (stopped taking it once I got my bfp)

TwittleBee · 02/03/2018 13:14

Thank you for all the replies :)

I suppose the drink might have played a part over the holiday season perhaps. I'll certainly make sure we both stop drinking from now then. Which should be easy as we don't usually drink unless it's an occasion.

DH cycles to work and I make sure we both eat healthy. (Neither smoke)

I've been taking folic acid and we've both been taking vitamin D.

My cycles are regular, every 29 days spot on.

Maybe I should try and get in some more exercise and try yoga. And the lubricants we might as well get those and try!

Don't fuck about with cheapie OPKs. They can be unreliable - very IME.

If you're tracking at 29 days almost bang on then please get the Clearblue Smiley Fertility indicator thing and read the instructions.

All I do on these pages is bang on about them but I think they are awesome and completely worth the £.

TwittleBee · 02/03/2018 13:34

TheLegendOfBeans thank you for that advice. Would the £10 Asda 5 pack OPKs count as the cheapie ones? Those are ones I've just bought 🤦

No alcohol

Pregnancy vitamins inc folic acid.

More gentle exercise.

Less stress

TheLegendOfBeans · 02/03/2018 20:48

@twittlebee seriously... Nothing that's not the Clearblue Smiley's.

Marriageoftrueminds · 02/03/2018 21:27

We tried for two years unsuccessfully (except for an ectopic pregnancy which actually lowered our chances even further 🙄). The month we conceived current baby (I’m 10 weeks, fingers crossed eh) we both gave up booze and red meat, I did clear blue super-expensive OPKs and I drank lots of water. We also both took pregnacare conception. Could easily have all been a coincidence but I’ll do the same next time for sure! Good luck!

SaturdaySauv · 03/03/2018 08:04

Could be nonsense but I read that long spells of intensive cycling can cause male infertility. Obviously doesn’t apply if it’s a short cycle and he has a healthy bmi. My DH used to cycle a lot so caused me to do the research.

Just got a bfp this month and things we did differently were using preseed lubricant, legs in air for 30 mins afterwards Blush, vaguely temped (although lots of night wakings with toddler and sinusitis made it tricky but despite that there was still a pattern). We also only started dtd when I first had evidence of fertile CM and continued until it changed again (about 4 consecutive days). I’d read ‘taking charge of your fertility’ which helped plan the approach we took. Also pregnacare and slightly less booze and lots of early nights (mainly illness related) in first two weeks of cycle.
Very best of luck Flowers

TwittleBee · 03/03/2018 12:04

Marriageoftrueminds and SaturdaySauv so much Good luck and fingers crossed all remains well for you both.

I'll get us both the vitamins Then! Red meat will be easy enough to give up.

That's interesting about the cycling. I will have a look into it as funnily enough he only started cycling to work once we started TTC #2...

I have no idea of this was just pure chance or if it did help, but we had been ttc for a few years now, and all I'd had in that time was 4 miscarriages. My mum had read online somewhere about Vitamin D and B12 vitamins supposedly being good for ovulation and conception etc, and so she bought me some! I started taking them soon as af arrived pretty much.
That month we got our bfp and I'm now 13 weeks with a so far healthy pregnancy! As I say, could all be pure luck, but I also ovulated much earlier than normal, and this is the first baby who's actually been dated a few days ahead of my dates at the scan. Both other dc were always a few days behind! So I do think it definitely helped even if it was just with ovulation Smile good luck hope you get your bfp soon

Magpie24 · 03/03/2018 19:58

I just conceived my first on cycle 12.

Only thing I did different this month was take high dose vitamin b6 to lengthen my cycle. And for cycle 11 and 12 I tracked ovulation and basically had sex at least once a day for the week leading up to and a few days after ovulation.

Tiring but worth it! I also cut out most alcohol and limited my caffeine.

TwittleBee · 03/03/2018 21:08

Thank you both! And good luck with the pregnancies 🤞

Hey. I started on seven seas trying for a baby at the beginning of my cycle our first official ttc month, I got my bfp on Monday very lucky I know and may not be to do with the vitamins but might be worth a try, I also drank loads of water and cut down on caffeine, good luck.

Erialc80 · 05/03/2018 21:40

I have read taking control of your fertility, definitely worth a read. Could you track cervical mucus if temping isn't working for you. Also been taking conception vitamins and using conceive plus lubricant.
