Larger areola and milk when squeezing in shower. Negative HPT

Hi,

I’m not really sure where to start. I had a really light period on the 8th February which barely filled the bottom of my mooncup and lasted two days. I’m normally very heavy for at least two days having to double up on Sandro. It was a couple of days early but nothing too out of the ordinary.

I then had about 5 days of backache. I was a little hopeful that it was implantation bleeding so did a couple of tests on 13th & 14th which were both very definitely negative. One was an FRER so should have shown something although I did do both in the evening.

I’ve just had a shower and mused that my areola were looking bigger so on a whim squeezed and I could get drops of milk out of both.

Now, I really don’t think I’m pregnant as we didn’t DTD after 26th jan until starting this new cycle.

Has anyone had this before? I was starting to think I might have an ovarian cyst...could this cause this to happen?

Could this be a symptom of peri menopause or do you think it’s just a random odd cycle?

It's a symptom of high prolactin. Have you recently given birth (in the last year or so?)?

It's generally not a sign of early pregnancy.

Get to the gp. High prolactin can stop you getting pregnant if that's what you're hoping for. There is medication to correct this.

Ah, yes sorry I should have said.

We’re TTC’ing for Dc2 and DS1 is nearly 4. I had a chemical pregnancy in October so it might be that my hormones are still out of whack.

Thanks for the info on high prolactin. I’ll keep an eye out and head to the doctors if it continues.

Did you breastfeed ds1 for any length of time? It's not unknown for small amounts of milk to remain for years afterwards if so. As physicskate says it would be rare for this to be a symptom of early pregnancy.

I did BF DS for 12 months so this could account for the discharge. I’m not sure it would explain the growth in the areolas?

I breastfed my son and my milk leaked in the next 2 pregnancies during the tww. I didn't squeeze it though, just leaked by itself. Didn't know what to think of it except maybe an early sign of pregnancy and true when tested I was pregnant. So for me it was but mightn't be for others.

TBF it’s the first time I’ve tried squeezing so perhaps I’ve been able to get milk all along!
