Progesterone

Hi all.
Possibly a silly question. But it took almost a year to conceive. Rather erratic temps (and on the low side post ov) and spotting prior to af. Finally got bfp in December and had mmc at 6.5weeks. Had to have erpc.

Long story short. My dr refuses to do blood tests for progesterone deficiency... is it worth paying for a private test or I've seen some progesterone creams to rub on arms ever morning after ov and into pregnancy.... is this worth doing or should I push for gp to do tests.

I lost my mind after the mmc and just want to be pregnant again. We didn't manage to conceive this month but cycle seems back to normal.

Any help would be much appreciated

My dr refused to do it too, I’ve had four losses. Two were missed miscarriages at 6/7 weeks.

I managed to get progesterone prescribed privately without the test but it was too late when it was prescribed.

Wow four losses! I'm so sorry!! Heartbreaking! Has it made a difference?

It didn’t because sadly they prescribed it a bit late. So I lost that baby as well.

You’ll find most doctors unsupportive after one miscarriage. I remember after my first desperately trying to get tests but everyone refused.

I hope you have some good support OP, it’s a horrible thing to deal with.

Oh my gosh. I'm just so sorry. Hopefully it'll help this time round. I have everything crossed for you.
I'm actually thinking about seeing a counsellor to talk things through.

I had three miscarriages and remember begging my doctor to prescribe me progesterone. I don’t think the creams are strong enough to work to be honest.

He eventually did prescribe cyclogest, which I took from 2dpo when I fell pregnant again. That pregnancy was successful.

Definitely go private if you can afford to.

I went private and the consultant prescribed progesterone pessaries to be taken from ovulation onwards. That was only recently and we haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping it makes a difference.

Thanks ladies. Did they do tests to prescribe? Were they day 21 tests? Or can this just test in general?

I wasn’t tested.

Progesterone can’t hurt/might help so after my doctor spoke with a colleague he prescribed it. I read up on it before I went in so I think that helped.
