Hs anyone seen it? I know I had it a while ago when I made DD, but it seems to have left me now!

We've only been trying for six months but still nothing! DD was a one hit wonder. Are we doing something wrong?

Have been having early pregnancy symptoms for a while now; nausea, getting up in the middle of the night to wee, slightly odd feeling in boobs etc. But then this morning (one day late) I get a light AF!

Now it would be easy to get carried away and say it's just an implantation bleed but this has happened the past two months. Though this time was worse. But I def don't think I'm pg now!

I did pull the cushions out from the sofa last night but all I found there was dirt and some coppers...

I live in Ireland so no NHS, but might go to GP anyway.

I suppose to be fair DD is only 11 months but in my May06 group on an Irish forum there are already FIVE pregnant again, the first of whom is due in August. And my best friend who has an eight month old just found out last week she's pg again. For a while there we thought we'd have matching bumps, buggies and babies!

Thanks for your sympathy though, nice to know I'm not the only one!

Oh it's frustrating isn't it? I know 6 months seems like a long time but it really isn't. Look at it this way, you only have a 30% chance of conceiving if you have sex at exactly the right time with a super-fertile man so it's not that easy in the first place. It took me a year and a miscarriage to get pregnant, aged 25 with a super-fit DH, both t-total non-smokers etc. My very lovely Kiwi GP said that he has worked in many countries and the UK is the most worked up about how long it takes. He says in all of his training and career he has learnt that it will take two years for a healthy fertile couple to conceive and this is entirely normal. Anything longer may require investigation. Only in the UK has he found that we're obsessed with falling pregnant straight away.

Of course none of this helps when you just want to get pregnant and I'm sure my 'I gave up ttc and then it happened straight away story' will be equally useless.

Try looking in the bottom of the laundry basket- that's where our car keys were this morning.

Flowermum · 02/05/2007 12:15

I haven't seen the bottom of the laundry basket in a while, so might try there later!

I'm meeting a friend in a minute and it took her four and a half years to conceive DD. Interestingly, last Christmas they decided to take a break from thinking about it and bada bing! Along came their DD! She had PCOS though so they know they'd have issues.

WE're also young, non smokers, don't really drink, eat healthily, walk everywhere, blah blah blah!
It's just frustrating.

Hi flowermum - yes this ttc lark can just about drive you mad! We too conceived ds (22 months) v.quickly and this time I'm now waiting to see the nhs gynae. My cycles havent returned to normal since ds so I might need clomid. I've quite a few friends who took longer ttc their second babies. Some took 6 or 7 months. I wouldn't have gone to the gp this early (5th month) but I've been charting my temps and realised that things weren't right. If your cycles seem ok (I know charting isn't for everyone but it does give you a lot of info)then see your gp. Good luck for a bfp soon

Flowermum · 02/05/2007 18:45

I just got a basal body temperature thingy today so will start charting tomorrow. I think it's a digital one. Am going to chart for about three months and then go to GP.

Or else I could just get a friend who will probably be getting clomid soon to give me some of hers... (I wouldn't really, but the temptation is so there!)

Sounds like a good idea. I do know what you mean about the clomid. My gp has mentioned that's what she thinks I'll get prescribed and you can buy it. But I would end up worrying that I'd concieve quads or take the wrong dose - so not really worth it.

Flowermum · 02/05/2007 19:06

Hmmm... That's true, one baby is all I'm asking for. Though I did mention to my newly pregnant friend that if she ends up with twins she could give me one. She was fine with that. So we just need to wait for her 20 week scan!

Can you actually buy clomid without it being prescribed? I suppose if you were really desperate you'd try anything, though I've heard you need to be closely monitored on it. My friend who will prob be getting it was only on it a couple of days but should not have been given it as she has thyroid problems (or something...)
