Low progesterone??

Well I’m on the TTC (trying to conceive) journey. I’m 36 and trying for number 2. We’re using the CBFM.

I’m having some ‘abnormal’ bleeding. Basically, this month, I had 4 ‘high’ days on cd 11, 12, 13 and 14, then 2 peak days on cd 15 and 16 (so lh surge detected) followed by a final high day. All seemed fine. Anyway, then I started to spot on cd 20 and that continued every day until AF (Aunt Flo - menstruation/period) made her unwelcome arrival.

This is the second cycle where I have had early spotting. From googling (I know, a bad idea) seems to be low progesterone. I am now in a bit of a mess that I am not going to be able to fall pregnant.

Has anyone had any experience of this or can offer me some much need words of advice? I could really do with some kind words right now

I am also experiencing spotting throughout my luteal phase. Currently on cycle 3 TTC #1, but with cycle 1 I spotted from 4dpo and from cycle 2 from 9dpo.

I was on BC for a long time, so hoping that that is maybe something to do with it, but I do remember spotting in cycles prior to being on the pill - I guess I just didn't pay as much attention as I was young and TTC wasn't on my radar then.

Some people on here have mentioned Vitamin B complex to improve length of luteal phase. I don't know if it would help with our spotting but this month I'm trying Pregnacare. I already take B12 due to a deficiency x

Hey 👋

Thanks for the reply. I have always spotted for a couple of days before- just not for as much as 8 days! I’m also taking pregnacare and I’ve seen a few people mention the B vitamin complex. I’ll see what happens next cycle, then perhaps I’ll try that.

I’m hoping it’s just a little blip to be honest. It’s hard to refrain from talking myself into something worse (early menopause, infertility etc.) xxx

Hey what's cbfm? X

Hey, I had 3 years of this and had it investigated fully. All they found was that I had a fairly thick lining. They suggested it was probably stress.

At the time I solved it by going innthe pill however now off that again and this time it’s not reappeared. Only changes are that I now have a great partner that doesn’t stress me out and I’m taking magnesium to combat stress and balance the hormones.

Go to the dr to get yourself checked but in the meantime start magnesium and it might balance you out too. Good luck

Thanks for the advice about the magnesium. I do think that stress has a big part to play (work stress in my case) xx

I was given cyclogest after three miscarriages, I’d already been taking aspirin and had been referred for tests and was waiting for an appointment and my doctor said it might help, couldn’t hurt and agreed to give it to me. It might have been coincidence but my next pregnancy was successful.

Thanks for all the advice ladies. I’ve got a doctors appointment later, so I’ll see what she says xx

I am in a similar boat after 2 mcs and a short ish luteal phase it's a possibility I have low progesterone. I don't know where you're based but I've recently been to see a specialist at the CRGH in London and she's prescribed me progesterone suppositories to take from ovulation onwards. She says some doctors prescribe them and some don't but she believes it can help support a pregnancy but was adamant it should be taken before a positive pregnancy test to work. The appointment was £200 but the prescription £40 so all in all if it works not overly expensive and worth a try if you think that's your problem.
