Other HG mums TTC?

Hi all! Calling anyone who has had HG before! I have one DC and got HG quite badly in that pregnancy. This is the first month of TTC #2 and I'm really nervous now. What prep has everyone done? Hoping I'll be one of the lucky ones and not get it in another pregnancy but know that isn't guaranteed. I got it around 6 or 7 weeks in my last pregnancy. I am of course hoping for a BFP (in 2ww) but I keep symptom spotting and imagining the nausea and then sickness hitting. Anyone else battling these fears?

I did it, had hg with my first and tried for a second. My second Pregnancy ended in Mc at 11 weeks, but made us realise that we would need lots of help around the house so started saving for that as it was impossible to look after a toddler and have hg. (Although we had no family nearby, were new to the area so had zero help around)

The hg was far far worse with my third pregnancy (ds) - mainly because with my first i could just lie on the sofa and sleep all day, but with this pregnancy i had a toddler to look after (and i couldn't open the fridge to get her a snack without vomiting). So we ended up getting nannies, a cleaner, and an au pair just to keep our lives rolling along whilst i spent days in hospital on a drip, came home for a few days, got readmitted for more iv fluids, back to home, back to hospital, etc. Dh work were initially understanding about giving him last minute time off work but once hed used all of his holiday days it was difficult, hence the need for a lot of childcare hired in.

Id say make sure you have plenty of help available, more than you think you'll need.with a good support network its double, but not fun

Also, its possible to go to your GP and get prescribed anti emetics before the morning sickness starts - that way if you start feeling nauseous then you can take some meds without waiting for a gp appt

Thank you Lyrica - most appreciated. We've thought through the care for my other DC and have a plan if needed, and I've been organised and sorted out birthday cards and presents as far as Easter in case as I was incapable of much last time. I haven't thought through meds, good point, I might make a GP appointment next week to discuss. When did your symptoms/sickness kick in during subsequent pregnancies? Last time I knew it wasn't a touch of morning sickness at 6/7 weeks as I couldn't even keep water down and it kicked in very quickly.

Symptoms start @ 5 to 6 weeks for me, by week 7 I'm in hospital.

You could try doing some batch cooking now, so you have food in the freezer....

Also, setting up an online shopping list (if you don't have one already)

I had pretty severe HG with ds. With dd (3 years later) I probably did still technically have HG but nothing like as bad - only sick once or twice a day until about 17 weeks. So try not to assume it'll necessarily be horrific.

DH has the food situation covered thankfully! Thanks for the tips!

Thanks Haudyerwheesht that gives me some hope! I'm trying to remain optimistic and hoping if it does happen at least I know I've done it once before and whilst it was still there until birth last time, it eased off to a few times a day at least by the 3rd trimester maybe a bit before, which whilst horrid I was able to function, so if it was like that all the way through I'd take that!
