TTC - Do these cycles seem irregular?

I've posted about my periods a few times in the past few days so let me apologise in advance! I have worked out roughly how long my cycles have been in the last year or so and when they started to become a bit dodgy. We are going to try for baby no. 1 soon, but my periods are a bit out of wack right now.

Could someone please assure me that I'm not losing my mind here? These are roughly how long my cycles have lasted over the past year. Periods usually last 5 days.

January (2017) - 30 days
February - 29 days
March - 29 days
April - 26 days
May - 30 days
June - 44 days (becomes irregular)
July - 38 days (heavy, 7/8 days)
September - 45 days (very light, 2 days)
October - 48 days
December - 51 days

Do these seem irregular? I've always had regular periods until last June and nearly each cycle seems to get longer each time. Any advice would be great since I'm starting to think I'm going bonkers! I have a GP appointment on Tuesday so I will bother you no more :)

A range of days days or more is considered irregular. So yes, those are irregular. The most likely explanation is delayed ovulation. Good idea about seeing the gp.

@AlyTab. Im sure you are secretly me lol. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday too for this exact same problem!

It might also be worth tracking your bbt.

It'll tell you when you're ovulating, and how long your follicular and luteal phases are

Thanks :)

@alytab @lookingatthestars89 how did it go?

LookingAtTheStars89 · 31/01/2018 00:41

@BusterBluth21. My GP was lovely. I had my blood tests done the same time so that my lh/fsh/estradiol were done on the right day. She ordered bloods for cortisol/thyroid/diabetes/full blood count/prolactin/testosterone/coagulation - she's basically done a full work up.

She's looking for (and hopefully not finding) PCOS and early onset of menopause :-/. She said if something hormonal crops up she will be sending me off to gynaecology. She said it could be ttc stress. It's basically a wait and see.

I will keep you posted x

AlyTab · 31/01/2018 03:57

@BusterBluth21 It was possibly the shortest GP appointment of all time! I was in and out in about 1 or 2 minutes. After that she ordered some blood tests, so I brought the sheet to the treatment room and got them done on the same day. After the blood tests I also had another appointment with a different doctor for different "issues".

Basically she just asked about the length of my cycles, said that the length was unusual, and the sheet that I handed in said that they were testing mainly for excess testosterone, thyroid issues, prolactin levels (protein that enables you to produce milk), and free androgen index (another marker for male hormone levels). So mostly to test for PCOS according to the phlebotomy sheet. I've been no more stressed than usual so that doesn't explain why my cycles suddenly became longer for no apparent reason.

Hope everything goes well for you @BusterBluth21, this is one of the main reasons i decided not to go on the implant Confused; and I'm glad it went well for you @LookingAtTheStars89. Please do keep us posted :) :)
