Hi, my husband (41) and I have been ttc since September last year, have been on pregnacare a d using clear blue digital ovulation kit. We haven’t got bfp just yet. We saw gp couple weeks back who referred me to have cd21 blood test and dperm analysis. We are waiting to hear but I’ve learnt today from local fertility clinic that they should have done other amh lsh tests too which should be fine cycle day 2-5. I’ll soeak to gp but from my conversation with fertility clinic to which gp could refer too seems like after all testing won’t be 6mths till they do any ivf and live birth rate for 40 (which I’ll be in couple months) is only 4%!!!

So now I’m wondering what to do now. Do I just keep trying or try private avenue for all testing. Was looking at crgc site and their live birth rate is 14%. Was going to try ziti but not sure. I’m feeling quite anxious about all this.

Our journey is so early of 5mths but I’m wondering Given I’m 40 soon should I just bite bullet a d get privately checked or just try get gp to do that additional blood test then take from there. Thing is with ivf clinics I can’t help but feel they’ll be vultures and get me to do all tests to then analyse best route fwd just to make money.

Sorry if I sound like a blubbering idiot. Just feel down and I’m not made of money Confused

I would get the tests done privately given your age. I had unexplained infertility and didn't go to the GP for years - finally went and we were told after a NHS laparoscopy that we didn't qualify for NHS fertility treatment in our area so we had 3 rounds of IUI privately followed by another round of IVF privately at Guys and St Thomas'. This all took time and each step takes time to optimise the process. We were lucky and were sucessful and our our daughter was born as I turned 36. We froze three other embryos so it was quicker second time as we had FET and I was 41 when my son was born.

The process can be drawn out and expensive but at no point did I feel that they tested/prescribed etc. for the money. St Thomas were great as was our Consultant.

Keep positive and wishing you all the best with your journey!

Thanks for this. It’s a mind field. I know with my age nhs can’t do ivf so happy for the checks whatever they can do then take from there. You mention private instead for those. Was that with st Thomas.

No advice OP but I'm in the same boat. TTC for over a year, 40 in November. Had 21 day Pro Test done in October and didn't get contacted with results which at my GPS practice means all clear or OK. Queried it with GP at another appointment and was told levels showed 0 so definitely not OK. Have a REALLY long cycle (last one 80+days, all before that 35-45days) and heavy clot-ridden, painful periods.

Everyone around me has just given birth or is pregnant and especially after the last long cycle which was just 3 BFNs I'm feeling totally lost.

GP just acts like I'm being a nuisance.

So... no advice, just your not alone and sending some internet hugs Smile
