Has anyone conceived naturally after 1 year?

I’m on cycle 15 of ttc (no pregnancies in that time) and feel like it’s never going to happen. I’ve started having pink spotting tonight so af is on her way AGAIN. The fertility doctor said that it’s perfectly normal to take up to two years to conceive even though I always thought it was a year. Is there anyone on here who had been ttc for over a year and managed to get pregnant naturally before the two year mark?

It took us over a year to conceive DC1. We were about to start tests when I fell pregnant. With DC2 I got pregnant straight away. It's so hard waiting but don't get disheartened. I hope it all works out for you OP.

I see a lot of women that post about finding out they were pregnant just before they were due to start fertility tests/IVF. I don’t think I’ll be that I’ll be so lucky but it’s nice to hear some people end up being able to bypass all of that :)

We have been TTC- ish for shy of 5yrs (it'll be 5 yrs in April). We didn't do any OPKs or temping or anything like that just regularly DTD. I have very irregular cycles (can go 7 months without a period and not be pregnant) so we've just kept up sex every 3/4 days and hoped for the best.
Dh is having his sperm tested (awaiting results) but we'll give it another year with the help of OPKs and if nothing still we'll be seeing a fertility specialist for help, providing there isn't something serious wrong with DHs sperm (then we'll be seeking help asap).
Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer personally Flowers

What gives me hope is knowing that my mum, after being told she was barren and denied any fertility treatment had not 1 or 2 but 3 children after that..

I know it's not the same, but it took me 9 months with my first. And this included fertility reflexology, using Preseed, OPKs etc etc. I've since been pregnant a further 3 times, each taking no longer than 2/3 months with minimal effort (unfortunately this includes a MC and a MMC)

My point is, there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to it, I honestly think it's pure luck.

I know it's bloody frustrating (and upsetting) but I tried to think of it as each month, I'm rolling a dice. If it's an even number, it's a YES. If it's an odd number, it's a NO. You could roll an even number first time, or it could take ages and ages, but if you keep rolling, you will hopefully get there eventually.

We were trying for 5 years. In that time we tried agnus castus, i lost weight, we had fertility treatment we accepted it wasn't going to happen and adopted our ds. 18 months after adopting him i was pregnant. The only time we'd had sex in 4 months too.
I know it feels like it'll never happen but try to hold onto some hope x x x

I had a M/C in December 2015 and I’m now 17+6 weeks pregnant. Probably started trying again in feb 2016 so it took us the best part of 2 years. I’m 25 and DP is 38. Already have DD (4)

deliabell that’s amazing!

delilabell · 22/01/2018 20:49

@placebooooooo I know. Still can't quite get my head round how it happened!

Two and a half very long years to get pregnant naturally (just as we were referred to the fertility clinic!).
The second time I got pregnant it took just one cycle!

I have endometriosis though which impacts fertility. But its unfortunately common for it to take up to 2 years. I know it can be so tough. Best of luck x

Thank you everyone. Had a rough couple of days with baby bombs and period starting (and then stopping after just one day 😑) and has a bit of an emotional meltdown about how I’m never going to be able to get pregnant and I want to just give up. Reading these makes me feel a little more hopeful :)

It took us a year of active trying (OPKs, Temping, PreSeed, Timed intercourse & every supplement under the sun!), eventually got pregnant straight after my HSG so I assume my tubes were blocked prior to it
