So I've recently hooked up with a much younger chap. Periods were getting irregular anyway due to my age, but I haven't had one for 7 weeks now which is quite a long time even for me. I've done two pregnancy tests-both negative, but I've still got that nagging worry. I can't be can I?

So that would mean you're 2/3 weeks late then? I'd imagine a test would show a positive by then? No expert though!x

Could it be the start of the menopause? Periods get less and less regular when your nearing the change

My nan did (in fact she had ds 1 at 45, DD1 my mum at 48, then DS 2 at 50 and DS3 at 52, all natural!) pretty sure the world record for oldest natural mother is 59 or 60.
It is rare though and I'd presume that it was menopause related not pregnancy; sorry.

It is certainly possible (even though technically your chances of a natural conception are considerably lower than when you were in your 20s) but it could still have happened! If you are pregnant, however, at your age you are more likely to conceive twins! Mental!

Not me but my aunt had two then met a new partner and married a lot later and 15 years later had two ds she was 45 and 48 so not quite 50 but it was totally natural!

that's really interesting :) In all the family history research I have done over 25 years either the mother told fibs about her age (marrying under 21 without consent) or babies born when mother in 40s would always check for an older daughter :O or a younger sister's child. Would be interesting to check birth certs to rule out any skeletons :D :)

I'm 42 and pregnant naturally and my mum had me at the same age, 43 when baby born. But my consultant was telling me he had another patient recently who was 52 and pregnant naturally.

It’s possible but unlikely. More likely to be the menopause.

Is there ever any update from original posters? Surely an answer one way or the other would be more beneficial to people in the same boat than a thread left up in the air..... It has been over a year! She has either had a baby or a menopause by now.
