TTC- PERIOD COMING EARLY EACH MONTH!!

Hi ladies. I'm new to this... we have been ttc for around 7 months although noticed recently my period are coming early the last 3 or 4 months. Has anyone else has this? Anytime I Google it comes up with perimenopause... which would be devastating as I'm only 30. My periods have been 28 days for as long as I remember although this month I had a 24 day cycle and last month a 26 and the month before a 23 day so it's difficult to know which days I'm ovulating? Period came 4 days early this month, with banging headache, eye bags, super sore bloated stomach and sore legs. (I didn't usually have many pms symptoms)... anyone else have similar and found out they are perimenopause or who conceived after similar.

I know there are people who have tried a lot longer than me and not looking to upset anyone. X thanks X Flowers

My cycles have been regular 28 days from the day I started my periods at age 12 (I’m now 28) I’ve been ttc for 15 months and my cycles were fine and then in September they randomly changed. I was almost a week late. Then I was early the month after. Next month I was late. Then back to 28 days in December and I think I ovulated cd11 this month making my cycle 25 days. I mentioned this to the fertility consultant yesterday and she said that it was nothing to worry about. She said if there is only a slight change in cycle length (whether slightly shorter or slightly longer) then there’s no concern but if they are becoming very short or very long then there would be a concern. 23 days is quite short for a luteal phase tbh but I wouldn’t worry about perimenopause. Maybe mention to your dr about the 23 day cycle. I’m not sure what they would do at 7 months ttc but they may investigate if they think there’s any issues

I had this when we were ttc. It turns out I had low progesterone levels which I think caused a luteal phase defect. Basically I think the egg doesn’t hang around long enough to implant even if it is fertilised.

We ended up using clomid...and the result of that just celebrated her 3rd birthday last month Smile

Thanks ladies. Both replies are beneficial to me and give me hope. Smile

I have a docs appointment in a few weeks and I'm going to mention but couldn't wait to get some insight or positive responses (takes forever to see a doc these days)

Wallisfrizz is Clomid to replace the low progesterone? Thanks

I think the Clomid boosted the ovulation. I’m not too sure of the science behind it but it worked.

WallisFrizz · 17/01/2018 20:32

The GP will not really be interested unless you say you have been trying 12 months.

Bubblegum89 · 17/01/2018 20:33

Clomid is given to people who don’t ovulate or who struggle to ovulate regularly

WallisFrizz · 17/01/2018 20:41

I ovulated monthly but it was weak, there were low progesterone levels and a short luteal phase. Again, I can’t remember the exact science but the clomid boosted the ovulation which i think had an effect on the progesterone levels so longer luteal phase=better chance of implantion.

Bubblegum89 · 17/01/2018 20:45

Yeah, my consultant said yesterday it can help short luteal phases but she wasn’t going to prescribe it to me as I ovulate regularly and it’s only really any help for those who don’t ovulate at all or struggle to ovulate. I’ve no idea of the exact science of it either lol.

Also, OP I do think that when it comes to irregular cycles, most doctors will turn you away until you’ve been ttc for a year as it can take up to a year for your body to regulate. It can’t hurt to mention it but just be prepared for them to tell you to come back in a few months

LillyJean1 · 17/01/2018 20:46

Thanks both. I guess I will need to wait till the 12 month mark... this is the first questions I've asked regarding this.... I genuinely thought if you had a period you were ovulating ☹ .... I guess they do these tests after the 12 months of trying.

Finger crossed for you bubblegum89 and wallisfrizz if your TTC again ☺

Ttc is honestly so confusing. You can have positive opks every month and still not be ovulating. A year seems like such a long time to wait for any answers. Hopefully your cycles sort themselves out before the 12 month mark. Good luck :)

WallisFrizz · 17/01/2018 20:56

Look, it’s probably not the correct thing to say but go to the gp around the 10 month mark (hopefully you won’t need to) and say you’ve been trying for a year. By the time you get your referral appointment it will probably be a year anyway.
