Can anyone help me?? I’m so confused!! I have been trying ovulation tests for a while now as had my coil removed. All of a sudden my lines started appearing Sunday, on Monday I did a test about 8pm and it was dark but still didn’t quite look a positive. Then retook the next morning the line got lighter. I’ve continued to take tests but the control line has just gone non exsistent now! Any advice? this is my second child but never had to test with my first!

Lines on ovulation tests don't last long at all.

Emily19952 · 17/01/2018 16:03

Glitterybutterfly, would you say I have ovulated then? I’m unsure if I ovulated over night and then didn’t pick it up! It’s horrible not knowing what to expect! I wish I could post a picture of my tests to give everyone a better picture of what’s going on but can’t seem to add one!

I think I made it abit unclear on my description my lines on Sunday was not dark enough I haven’t actually had a positive test at all. It just continued to get darker and darker from my first test Sunday morning where I had a really dark one Monday and then Tuesday they slowly started to get lighter until today when there was no line at all.

When did you have your coil removed and has your cycle returned to normal? I ask this because I haven't returned to a regular cycle 5 months after the coil removal and also had changing strengths on my opks without positives.
If you had a positive test then yes they would start getting lighter after ovulation

Emily19952 · 17/01/2018 16:18

I had my coil removed on the 2nd of January. I hope it's not 5 months I will be so gutted I'm so excited to have another baby!!

I have had a normal cycle since which fell on the expected day with my ovulation calendar!

When I had my coil taken out it took a good year before my periods became regular, but that's obviously not the same for everyone. Your ovulation test: was the test line the same or darker than the control line? It needs to be exactly the same or darker than the control line to count as positive - after that, you may ovulate 12-48 hours after a positive. It doesn't mean that you ovulate on the same day that you get your positive ovulation test. The worst thing about OPK (ovulation prediction kits) are that on their own, they can't necessarily pin point ovulation. I track my Basal Body Temperature (BBT) too and you can tell when I ovulate because after a positive OPK my temperature steadily rises over the 3 days after ovulation. Have you tried temping?

Emily199523 · 17/01/2018 16:27

I have attached a picture of my test if everyone could have a look and tell me what they think the third test is the one I'm unsure off. I have had to login to my old account to post as it wouldn't allow me on my new account due to not being a member for 28 days.

Thank you for telling me about basal temperature I may try that next month if I have no success this month!!

ChobiChibi · 17/01/2018 16:43

I can't see an OPK that is positive here - I'm trying to figure out how to add photos to my post from a desktop (any ideas?) to be able to show
you mine! The OPK tracks the level of luteinising hormone (LH) in your body, but that comes and goes during your cycle so it can be quite misleading sometimes.

Emily199523 · 17/01/2018 16:46

I'm on day 12 so was excepting something to happen by now! It's actually disheartening now I feel like I've been waiting ages! I will continue to test and hopefully get a positive soon!!!

ChobiChibi · 17/01/2018 16:50

Yeah, I totally understand. It can be really disheartening, but keep going with it. I do recommend taking your BBT - you can buy a good thermometer on amazon at a decent price (make sure it's to two decimal places though) - because it really does allow you to understand your cycle better regardless if you're trying for a baby or not. Feel free to post photos of your OPK and I'll give you feedback Smile

Hi hunni, I would agree that non of those tests look quite positive. It could be that you're cycles are still returning to 'normal' following your coil being removed but also it is quite possible that you've ovulated and just not caught the surge even if you're testing more than once a day. Some months I've had clear positives on those cheapie test, some months dubious ones where the lines have just been the same but may have been a hairline short and some months where I've had no positives but I'm pretty sure I ovulated anyway as the close ish tests always showed approx the day before I've had bad ovulation pain and my temps peaked. I also got pregnant in Nov but sadly miscarried last month - shows I must have ovulated though. I use them to give me an idea but don't go off them as gospel. Maybe the branded ones are better? I don't know I'm too much of a cheap skate to bother with them haha x

ChobiChibi · 17/01/2018 17:45

I only buy the cheap OneStep ones (they're green) but they've seemed to work well for me so far (fingers crossed!). Sorry to hear about your MC @mamabear05. Baby dust to everyone! Flowers

Emily199523 · 17/01/2018 17:52

Thank you for your help and advice both of you and I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriage! I'm really interested to know if anyone else has had a surge similar to what I have had before ovulation? I'm thinking of purchasing the more expensive tests to ensure I'm not always questioning myself! Xx

ChobiChibi · 17/01/2018 18:06

Personally I have had a similar surge. Basically: as your body gets ready to ovulate there is a surge in LH, but, if ovulation is unsuccessful then your body will drop the LH level and then try again in a few days. Don't spend heaps of money on OPKs because they don't tell you anything that the cheap ones won't. Take it from me, I've been TTC for a year, tracking with OPKs and BBT Smile

Katievb · 17/01/2018 18:30

Hi, mine always do that.. go really positive then back light right before ovulation then all of a sudden I get a positive.. keep going! I test at 2pm and 9pm. Good luck xx

mamabear05 · 17/01/2018 18:49

I agree. I had what I thought could be nearing a positive on cd10 and got really excited but the next day it was faint again. They literally went to stark white over the next few days then bam I had a positive on cd19 which stayed for 2 days. I agree with @ChobiChibi in that the cheap ones are best...especially for serial testers. They only give you an idea but even a strong positive on even the expensive ones is no guarantee you've ovulated just that you've had a surge. I too get the one step ones....I test 3 times a day through the whole month so quite happy that these only cost £3.99 lol x

Emily199523 · 17/01/2018 19:26

Thank you for all the comments!! I'm feeling abit happier now!! Hopefully I have a positive soon will keep everyone updated!! Xx

Brownbear84 · 17/01/2018 22:27

I got my positive day 14 xx
