Cramping 4-7 dpo?

I'm on cycle 4 of TTC, and this is the first cycle where I haven't been tracking my BBT. Partly because it was stressing me out, and partly because I didn't want to be setting my alarm early over the Christmas break!

I got a positive OPK on CD14, and EWCM from CD13-16. As I also had some twinges on CD15 I am fairly sure I ovulated then. Which is late for me (was CD12 last month).

But I'm currently at 7dpo and have been having mild cramps (as if AF is coming) ever since late evening on 4dpo. I know that is too early for implantation to occur, but I've never had this in my previous cycles (just some cramping when AF comes).

It crossed my mind at first that I could be ovulating late, but I usually only ever get ovulation cramps on the one day (not 4 days!).

I feel like if I was pregnant my fitbit heart rate would be higher, but despite being high before O (higher than usual as I had a cold) by 4dpo it was already back to my lowest at around 58 to 60 where it has stayed since.

Anyone ever had this, and if so what was the outcome? I know everyone is different, and in my case it just feels like progesterone is trolling me.

I sometimes have cramps a few days after OV which last until AF comes. Some months I don’t. Same with things like breast tenderness, sometimes they really hurt before AF and other months they don’t hurt at all. Think I must have more progesterone some months than others. I’ve convinced myself I’ve been pregnant before because of things like unusual cramps and nausea but AF has arrived on time. Try to not think about it until next week and then take a test on day 26 or so if you are still feeling different. I know it’s easier said than done and it can consume your thoughts though, but just try and distract yourself for the time being

chevrechevre · 12/01/2018 08:57

Just to say that I have this too since 4DPO - not due AF for another 10 days so no outcome to share, and like you I thought it was late OV (but again, not usual for me for twinges to go on for days), or trapped wind? I'm telling myself it'll be progesterone trolling me. Just like I have tender breasts earlier than I think I usually would. Probably imagining it.

I suppose it could be a corpus luteum cyst (not a bad thing): https://www.parents.com/advice/pregnancy-birth/my-pregnant-body/should-i-worry-about-a-dull-pain-in-my-side-during-pregnancy/

But that might mean twins for me if so as my twinges are both sides Shock but I do frequently get ov pain on both sides in the same month so who knows.

I think that's really good advice Purplerain. It seems like every month something out of the norm happens that makes me convince myself this cycle is different and I must be pregnant! It's really hard not to fixate on symptom spotting but so far it's proved absolutely useless! Every single symptom is just as likely to be AF as a BFP so I need to try harder to chill out about it all!

Oh please do keep us updated chevrechevre, it's great to hear from people in the same situation! Fingers crossed for you.

My twinges are all across my lower abdomen so can't really say if it's one side more than the other. Would be thrilled with twins though!

Do you want to be pregnant or are you hoping not to be? Also how old are you as my Dr said things like progesterone side effects like cramping and tiredness can worsen the older you get, especially around about the age of 29 onwards until menopause. If you are trying to conceive then I hope you get the result you want in a week or two. Have you ever been pregnant before?

coffeeplastic · 12/01/2018 09:18

We are very much trying to get pregnant. This will be my first. I just turned 30 and only had my Mirena coil removed in September (been on one form of BC or another since I was 15 so it's very strange!).

With the Mirena I didn't even have periods, never mind any symptoms, so I'm still figuring out what's 'normal' for me (if there is such a thing!). So no matter what my age, I don't really have much reference for if progesterone effects are worse or not, if that makes sense? As it's only been 4 cycles, all symptoms are pretty much a first for me.

My cramps between ovulation and AF were worse for about 6 months after coming off BC and then they settled down a bit.
Cramping after ovulation can be a sign of pregnancy too though but all you can do is wait it out as it will be too early to test. So frustrating I know. Good luck

Haha I could have written this even down to the Fitbit checking!

Owlpatrol · 12/01/2018 18:37

Yes interesting thread. I have mild pains usually one side from ovulation. Then stops a day then mild af cramps start with sore boobs some months worse than others. Sadly never got a bfp but that doesn't mean anything. I'm 29 though! Hopefully not quite on the shelf yet!! Thinking when I do get pregnant that something will be "off" or different for me than my usual. It does take a few months when you are actively tracking to work out what is and not normal for you so fx for bfps on this thread soon!! Ps I thought I was the only one who got cramps after ovulation for ages until I saw something similar to this post on here x

Bubblegum89 · 12/01/2018 18:42

I get weird cramps and twinges during my whole cycle. I’ve been ttc for 14 months and still no bfp. While you’re still in the early stages of ttc, it’s most likely your body adjusting. Whatever it is, it’s not pregnancy related. 4-7 dpo is too early for implantation plus pregnancy cramps don’t happen until you are around 4-5 weeks. I wouldn’t worry too much about them unless they become particularly painful :)

juneybean · 12/01/2018 21:54

^ actually pregnancy cramps can start from implantation onwards and implantation can occur at 5dpo.

I am also on cycle 14 with no bfp but it doesn't mean I don't stop symptom spotting.

Just wanted to come back and update this thread (it always annoys me when I google my symptoms but never find out the outcome for the ladies I was reading about!).

I took a FRER this morning (10 dpo) and got a very faint (but definitely there) BFP!

So in my case, this unusual cramping (which I still have this morning) ended up in pregnancy!

Ohhh congratulations! Wish it was me 😔❤

juneybean · 15/01/2018 14:02

That's great news @coffeeplastic! Happy & healthy 9 months! :)

Did you have any spotting?

juneybean · 15/01/2018 14:03

And what did you fitbit end up doing?

coffeeplastic · 16/01/2018 08:31

No spotting, or any symptoms at all other than the cramping. My fitbit shows a very very slight increase in heart rate but nothing significant (2 or 3bpm) but it's still early days.

Took another FRER this morning and it's slightly darker, still quite shocked!

Congratulations! Flowers
I've been following with interest as I've had the same symptom this month.
Hope you have a happy pregnancy.

loveyou08 · 22/10/2018 21:45

Congratulations!
How did your pregnancy go! coffeeplastic
