Reliability of IC's

Hello all,

I'm just wondering about people's experiences of internet cheapies as indicators of pregnancy. I'm almost certain this thread will be one of countless similar others but I would be grateful for responses nonetheless.

Bought 15 for some ridiculously low price from amazon and have been using them but can't help but wonder if they're actually just rubbish and won't show much even if there is the faintest of things to show?

Has anyone has BFNs on ICs and then BFPs elsewhere? Am I deluding myself? Hmm

They definitely do work. More sensitive than many in the shops. I had loads of bfns (hundreds), possibly two that confused me with evap lines.

Anyway when I eventually got pg I had a faint but definitely there line from about 9dpo. A few days later it was as clear as day.

However I didn't have much success with the cheapy ovulation sticks. Never got a strong line on those at all. But i had some issues with ovulation (eventually needed clomid) so that possibly explains it.

I had 2 Different brands of ICs. Baby mad brand (free with a thermometer) gave me a very very faint positive at 9DPO. One Step didn't show me a positive until 15DPO.

I've had two separate positive results using One Step cheapies at 9/10dpo. They are much more reliable than loads of high st tests (Superdrug I'm looking at you and your crappy tests). The ones I have are 10 mIU I think, which is pretty sensitive.

I had loads of ICs and thought I'm not going to waste any FRERs (in my opinion the only reliable pregnancy test) until I've had a bfp on an IC. Turns out, BFP on FRER at 10dpo and no line on the IC until 13dpo. They do work but are not as sensitive as they claim, so if you want to really know earlier go with a FRER.

Thanks all - will wait a few more days and see if AF comes. This is why having such an irregular period is so annoying - currently CD43 and not a clue when I would have ovulated

@earlgreysanatomy have you considered FAM? It really helped me to get to know my cycle and also know when I'm actually late for my period, not 'late because my last cycle was 30 days so this one has to be 30 too!'. I can only highly recommend it! Takes a bit of reading and getting used to but I'd do it all over again, especially when TTC.

I never got a positive on an IC.

I used an IC and a FRER one morning - v v v faint positive on the FRER. BFN on the IC.

Used ICs to keep 'checking' I was actually pregnant and never once got a positive, even after I got a BFP on a CB digital.

I did a CB digital and an ic on the same morning, pregnant with the CB, nothing on the ic.
