Has anyone used one of these ? Saw them in boots the other day and not sure how they are any different to a cheap OPK stick Confused do they actually detect ovulation and not just the LH surges ?

They track LH and estrogen, I believe.

I hated mine so much, I threw it away. I wasn't even prepared to sell it and subject someone else to that misery.

The sticks are really expensive.

It only lets you test once a day, so if you have an lh surge under 24 hours you could miss it.

If it registers a high, it will keep showing high regardless of what the stick actually says until it gets a peak... which is misleading. It doesn't allow for the fact tour lh can go up and down several times a cycle without peaking.

Most fertility doctors (in clinics) do not recommend peeing on ovulation sticks as they are all inaccurate.

We used it for our second baby after months of trying. When I finally did get pregnant, the dates were totally off when I would have concieved according to the monitor.

For baby three we just tried to have sex every other day from when my period ended. It was much less stressful.

Hi I had one during our infertility struggles (7years) and I have to say they are expensive and the replacement sticks are pricey. I also found it wiped the data after 6 months which was not helpful. I used and continue to use CLUE in addition to the Clearblue and found that much better and cheaper!

SomeRandomBird · 09/01/2018 21:33

Yes! Conceived DD with the help of these and currently waiting to see if I'm pregnant with DC2. I am gay so use IUI to get pregnant so couldn't have done it without them.

Main benefits for me - they made me realise I ovulate later in my cycle than the apps said. Four days later in fact.

I found the flashing smiley faces handy for knowing the high fertility days (estrogen) as I knew the LH surge was coming so could pinpoint the exact time to book the IUI.

Worked first time with DD1... I'll let you know in a week or so if I've had a 100% success rate.

Ive read that the older version of this monitor has those problems but this newer version doesnt ? I test everday from CD9 but with one of these monitors id only test 10 times a cycle which is about half what i test now with OPKs so not sure if it's better in that respect

@Praisebe I looked into these for a while but couldn't justify the price.

If it helps they're currently on groupon for £79

Praisebe · 09/01/2018 22:06

The price isn't an issue for me so long as it actually works and detects ovulation not just the LH surge I've emailed clear blue asking them to clarify what it actually does if it only detects hormone surges then it's just an overpriced opk stick

It doesn’t detect actual ovulation, I’m not sure anything other than a scan could do that. It just detects the estrogen hormone in the run up to the LH surge and then the LH surge itself. Apparently the new one can detect pregnancy too.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 09/01/2018 22:14

had the old version and helped me get pregnant with DS on the second month. I'd used cheapy sticks previous. I had a weird cycle (long luteal phase or something, and irregular) and this helped me work that out where the sticks didn't.

Love2cook · 09/01/2018 22:50

I'm on my first cycle TTC and am using this, the other physical signs are pretty in line with what it's showing so far, I guess I'll know soon enough!

The reviews I've read are really good, with lots of BFP's in first and second months. I don't think it can do any harm and we want to get pregnant as fast as possible so are willing to give it a go. I bought it with boots points and sticks are on 3for2 atm along with pre natal vits ect.

I like the reassurance that thinks are working as they should be after the pill and it's really easy and charts for you. Good to keep track of AF and when you DTD.

Anyone had good results?

I have the old monitor and have found it really helpful. Conceived 3 times using it. Always picks up my peak days. Annoying the pee sticks are so expensive though!
