8 dpo today and getting early AF symptoms - bit of breast tenderness and dull cramps. Trying not to be too pessimistic, not testing unless AF late, should be due 5th Feb - anyone else holding out til then?

I'm supposed to be holding out until then too @theworstwife but my resolve is weakening!!

@worstwife I’m in a similar boat, due on the 6th. Was actually debating buying some tests today so I had them for next week but I know if they are in the house, I’ll be so tempted to use them! Trying to hold out until next Tues.

@NoseringGirl and @thatsoccerchick I am really going to try and wait, the BFNs are harder for me than AF arriving, the bloody ‘NOT’ above pregnant on the clear blue fills me with rage! I’m not going to buy any so I’m not tempted - pretty sure I’m out this month though. Fx for everyone x

It sucks, doesn’t it? We had a few half hearted attempts at trying over the summer and every time I tested with a negative, I was devastated even though I knew there was little chance of me being pg.

I think I try and be pessimistic so I’m less disappointed but there is a little bit of me that always thinks this month it’s worked. Annoying cramps today - think AF is coming early booooo

I am at work this morning - I work in sexual health - surrounded by pregnancy test just waiting for me to pee on them ... mustn’t do tests

@catspajamas first response are the most sensitive can detect 6ml of hcg and the digital ones are less sensitive around 25ml some are only +50ml. I’m a sucker for numbers and research :) your hcg levels will reach 10000-14000 in the first 2 weeks as it doubles every day and at cd25 you’re still pre af.

I would stick with first response for the next few tests and you’ll see that lovely line get darker xx

I'm having an aaaargh noooo moment.

App algorithm thing had me due to ovulate at CD 14 so timed DTD perfectly. Then yesterday (CD 19) I put my temp in and it updated to say "we have pinpointed your ovulation as CD17 this month!" And it then shifted AF due date back by 3 days. Aaagh. DP has been away with work since CD 16. Anyone else had this?

Don't know whether to test if AF doesn't arrive as expected on Saturday (or rather would have been expected had I not been charting temps) or just wait til Monday now.

Do you look for any other signs like cm or opk?

Right girls im so confused and so trying not to get my hopes up. Currently cd30 and I'm usually 28-30 so technically not late. Tested Friday and was bfn so thought I was out as had cramps as well. Cm now a bit watery but no spotting. I really hope I'm preggers and thinking of testing tomorrow but so scared!

Question for you ladies, how short can the ov window be? I did an OV test Sunday or was negative, Did one yesterday afternoon it was negative, Did one this morning it was positive, Did one again just now and no line again (using the cheapy sticks from amazon) been dtd every day since Friday so hopefully we've got it if it happened!

Yeah felicity that's the confusing thing OPK was positive on CD15! I can't really tell with the cm though.

@Owlpatrol I understand the not wanting to get your hopes up! Keeping everything crossed for you, hope you get that BFP in the morning!

@colourful86 I think the LH surge can be fairly short and then you can ovulate within 24-48 hours.

I bought HPTs today. I really should wait until Sunday but I'll blatantly end up testing in the morning

@caoraich temps are way more accurate than just the apps like Ovia - they have everyone due to ovulate on day 14 with a 28 day cycle. If you ovulated 3 days later then AF will be 3 days later as your luteal phase will tend not to vary. If your OPK was positive on CD15 then from that you'd likely ov on 16 or maybe 17.

@Owlpatrol everything crossed for you! Really hope this is your month. Are you temping? How are your temps?

@colourful86 you can have a short surge like you had. I tend to get positives for about 24 hours but I've heard people get them for 2/3 days in a row so everyone's different 😀

Ah dammit that was a typo - meant to type opk was positive early morning on CD 13 which fitted with expected ov on 14 not 17 and is why I'm confused

Okay I am sorry to have not read back before I post but just grabbed a pound shop test today on off-chance and am about to run out the door with toddler... can you see this? Is it a line?!

I was so determined to stay strong. I don't know when AF is due exactly but I guesstimate I'm about 10dpo. I was so convinced I was pg at the weekend but that feeling has completely subsided over the past 48 hours. Anyway, I spent all morning thinking about it and hardly being able to get work done so I nipped out at lunchtime to the local pharmacy. Thought I was being oh so subtle but realised once I'd left that I'd had my name badge around my neck so, not exactly anonymous Bought a cheapo test. My logic was that if it was negative I could blame it on a shit test and/or being too early. Tested in the loos at work (classy) and spent the best part of an hour with it hidden on my desk in my lunch box, sneaking little peeps at it to see if it had magically developed the second line. Does anyone else just squint until they see double? No line. Took it apart. Still no line. Sodding thing couldn't be whiter if I'd bleached it. I know there's a reasonable explanation for the BFN (too early/shit test) but still feel crushed.
