C-section advise

Hello,

After some advice really.

I have three children ages 14,10 and 2, all born by C-section.

Myself and my husband would really like another child but during my last C-section the surgeon advised that my uterus was thin and she wouldn't recommend further children.
I went to my GP for an appointment to be sterilised, was referred to see a consultant who advised that there was no notes to this effect.

I now feel that I would like another child but have no idea how to find out what I need to do to go about this in the safest manner possible.

The conflicting information has lead me to worry - what experiences do you all have?

I know there is a bit of a myth that three csections is kind of the limit (it's a myth because I have a family member who has had 4 and was in hospital with someone who had 8!)

Thanks in advance

I think you need to seek advice from a consultant again, preferably the one who gave you the previous advice. Ask your GP for a referral.

Yes women can have more than 3 CSs but you have an assessment from a surgeon who has actually seen the condition of your specific uterus and that is the important thing here. She evidently thinks you would be at risk of uterine rupture in a further pregnancy and that could kill both you and a baby. So you need advice about the degree of risk before you do anything.

I agree with the PP. You need to talk to a hospital consultant who can review the operation notes from your last C section and advise you based on that, then you can make an informed decision. Uterine rupture is a serious complication so it’s important you get the facts. Everybody heals differently so what might be ok for one woman is not necessarily the same for another. Good luck.
