I get a migraine every period - have done for years, with back ache, tummy ache, generally feel crap - heavy periods. But I have recently found after trying everything on the market - something that really does help! The Migraine patches that you stick on your forehead - they are expensive but worth every penny to stop my head hurting and feeling sick!

You can get the brand ones or boots own - just as good as each other.

Sympathies-have had a migraine every month either before, during or after AF since I was 19 (am now 37). Have prescription migraine tablets and have now discovered Solpadeine migraine tablets available over the counter which I take at the same time. You can now get Immigran 50mg tablets over the counter-I used to be prescribed the 100mg Immigran tablets until my Dr decided they were too expensive so now have something else.

Think I will give those patches a try too. Would drink poison if I knew it would relieve the pain.

i get a migraine every month that lasts usually 3-4 days, always have. even now, when i have a mirena fitted, cycle is a bit hard to follow as no bleeding as such, just spotting but still get all the other symptoms, including the migraine

have tried everything, 4 head, migraleve, syndol, am allergic to immigran, used to take sanamigran every day but stopped to have babies, started it again but couldn't manage with feeling so drowsy all the time.

am currently adopting the same philosophy as is applied to the dc's, taking paracetamol and ibuprofen together.

oh thanks, saw gp today coz this morning my right eye was very swollen and she just said to take my tabs and ride it out.

drink de-caff now, no choc, no cheeses etc, what triggers yours?

i get migraines a week before my period for the last 12 years, sucks! I take Alieve, it helps for the most part and drink warm decaf tea and curl up on the couch and feel sorry for myself! I have also started getting one on the day of ov and then it's gone the next day, od.

If you are not trying to get pregnant, going on a monophasic pill (same hormone does every day) can help loads with the hormone related migraines. It has something to do with evening out the estrogen.

I also get stonking headaches which start down my neck and move up towards my head and feel sick with thumping pains by the time it reaches my forehead and eyes. The only thing I find helps is extra strong painkillers which contain paracetamol, aspirin and caffeine (v.cheap in supermarkets!!). Ibuprofen doesn't touch a headache for me.
