How reliable are Sainsbury’s tests?

Hi there,

I’ve had a strange period this month with what looks like a positive on a Sainsbury’s test and I’m after some advice please?

I already have a 15 month old DS but he was a surprise while I was on the pill so I have no experience of TTC or testing early etc.

I came off the pill last month so DH and I could try for our 2nd baby. I had my normal bleed at the end of the strip and just didn’t restart taking the pill. We TTC this month and my period was due on Friday according to Ovia, obvs I wasn’t sure of this because my periods before had only been 28 days due to the pill.

Anyway I started bleeding on Thursday but it was very light pink and watery. By Friday afternoon it had reduced to just pink when I wiped and now I’m just getting the odd light pink spotting.

I went and got a test today from Sainsbury’s and did it about an hour ago. I got this result which to me looks positive but it is faint and I’ve heard of Sainsbury’s tests (or blue dye tests) being more unreliable.

Any ideas? Could implantation last this long?

That does look positive.

I always favour a First Response test. I know they're expensive but I always believe the result on them.

I’ve had a false positive with Sainsbury’s before x

INeedNewShoes Thanks for your reply. Are they are digital ones?

Unreliable in my experience. Always got a faint cross with Sainsbury's tests even when not pregnant. Try a pink dye test

ALineOrNot · 17/12/2017 12:14

TheGrumpySquirrel Lots of people saying the same when I google. However their line seems to be very thin and to the side. My line is central and thick (albeit faint)

Think I need to find another shop Grin

Mine was also thick and faint, I wasn't pregnant. However yours does look a little darker than the false positives I've seen. Get to a boots and get a FRER.

I find co-op ones good. Pink-dye ones they are and never had a false positive x

We don’t have many shops nearby and our Boots is shut on a Sunday but we do have a small Co-Op. I’ll take a walk up there after DS has his nap.

I have never had any issues with them and they were showing faint lines when I was pregnant however I only switched to them after first response lines was very dark. And no first response are not digital, but they are extremely sensitive I got a faint line at 8dpo

ALineOrNot · 17/12/2017 16:04

Well I went to the co-op and it turns out the Sainsbury’s test was correct after all! Grin
