We have been discussing trying for a family for some time and I have stopped taking the pill. We are going to start trying end of feb to give me a bit of time for my cycle and everything to settle after years of added hormones and also after our holiday. I keep seeing different abbreviations on here and don’t understand any of them so struggle to keep up! Can anyone explain them for me please? Also do people advise ovulation tests or trackers and if so what ones? I have folic acid and plan to start taking that mid January and am already taking vitamin d as I think I am low anyway! I have spoken to the doctor and got advice on diet/ excercise/ supplements so I’m feeling pretty organised but any advice or suggestions are welcome!

I’ve noted some of the common abbreviations below which might help:

Opk - ovulation predictor kit
Cm - cervical mucus
Ewcm - egg white cervical mucus
DH/DP - dear husband/dear partner
DC - dear children
Dtd - doing the dance/deed
Bd - baby dance
AF - Aunt Flo/period
CD - cycle day
POAS - pee on a stick (either opk or pregnancy test)
FRER - first response early response pregnancy test

Can think of any obvious others! If you are unsure then just ask as most people are really helpful and kind on this forum!

I’d start taking folic acid as soon as. Usually recommended 3 months before trying to conceive up until 12 weeks pregnant.

I’m only on cycle 2 so all new for me as well. Been using clear blue opk. Didn’t do much for me first cycle as never showed peak fertility so fingers crossed for cycle 2! I think best to dtd every other day if possible and that way it’s difficult to completely miss ovulation!
