Hi all.
Just wanted to come on and ask for any kind of advice you have.
Bit of background :
27 TTC for 5 months with DH.
Irregular periods (sometimes on time, sometimes 6-7 days late)

Been using ovulation tests and keeping track on my calendar while TTC. Which can be difficult with my irregular periods and very unsure when my ovulation day is!

My main "AF is coming" is very sore boobs for 2 weeks leading up to my period.
AF was due 21st November. I haven't had any sore / tender boobs and no sign of AF... now 8 days late. I did pregnancy tests on 21st, 22nd and 24th November. All negative.

Doctors appt for Monday coming but it is just playing on my mind.. my period is sooo late. Not pregnant - no symptoms, negative test.

I also rarely get any kind of CM, EWCM.. and in the 5 months of TTC I've seen one positive ovulation test.

I've been taking pregnacare conception for 2 months now (was taking seven seas conception before this) .... could this be stopping my cycle?
I feel slightly in limbo right now...

My worry is that this wait on AF eventually coming is going to really hold us back from trying, I feel like I'm not ovulating .... SadSad

Anyone ever had this kind of situation ? Any advice for me ?

Thanks. X

Pregnacare is just a multivitamin and I've never heard of it actually stopping cycles. You could have ovulated late last month, you could actually be pregnant but the hormone level isn't high enough to show yet or perhaps you didn't ovulate this time. It's normal to have ocassional anovulatory cycles. What date did you get a positive OPK?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/11/2017 19:13

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days OR with less than 4 days of variation from month to month.

It will do no harm at all to pay a visit to the GP, this person may send you for blood tests to see what your hormone levels are like. You need a day 3 test done to compare your LH (luteinising hormone) level against that of your FSH (follicle stimulation hormone). Normally these are about the same but an excess of LH compared to FSH may indicate polycystic ovaries which is very common and can be treated.

The pregnacare conception vitamins won't be causing you any harm so I would keep taking those. Irregular periods are often caused by hormonal imbalances.

OPKs are pretty much useless to use if the cycle is irregular so I would cease using these. Irregular cycles may well cause your ovulation to go awry so I would speak to the GP sooner rather than later.

Ah yes, have just read again and realised your period is sometimes a week late. Perhaps see a doctor about your long/irregular cycles.

Thank you @BandhaAid and @AttilaTheMeerkat

I will continue the pregnacare vitamins!
I remember having blood tests about 3 years ago to see my hormone levels and all came back OK. So fingers crossed it's the same this time.

TTC is hard enough mentally without added issues! Sad

Xx
