Hi folks, used to post infrequently, under a different name. I have a 3 1/2year old conceived easily. Last 2 ish years been trying for number two and had 3 miscarriages. Two at 5-6 weeks an an MMc at 12 weeks. Yesterday after 9 months of nothing I got a clear BFP on day AF due. Now not sure what to do next... I’m terrified every decision will cause another mc, should I drink any caffeine, can I have sex, should I still take the ubiquinol I started last month, dare I have a bath. Objectively I know sex and baths should be fine, caffeine in moderation and probably not ubiqinol but I’m frozen by indecision. Anyone been here before?

Hi there.
Just to say I was there a year ago. Suffered 3 losses before having my first DC.
I was prescribed steroids due to an immune issue but other things I did...
Took 5mg folic acid daily, took a vitamin D tablet daily, took 75mg aspirin daily with food.
I was also prescribed progesterone which I took before bed.
You can speak to your GP about all these options, I was given the mega folic acid by an nhs doctor after being referred for having had 3 losses. The steroids were done privately.
Most of all, I think my losses were caused by random genetic errors at conception. My third loss was tested and proven to be a genetic issue - so nothing I took would have helped. Fingers crossed everything sticks this time for you.

Thanks for your reply. I did go to an emcee clinic and everything was normal. I did try aspirin in my third pregnancy to no avail, and the clinic said no evidence to support the use of either that or progesterone if all tests are normal

And I should say I’m on a standard preconception vitamin

Yes - exact same was said to me. I took the stuff anyway but all evidence shows it doesn’t help either way when you have no medical reason for it. However I think I just felt good taking extra stuff because honestly 4 years of mc was driving me bonkers. You could get some vitamin D tablets (I had boots own ones) and take them in addition to a pregnancy vitamin. I was told it was good for a healthy immune system and I had a diagnosis of an over active immune problem so I took them. My sister also took them in her pregnancy, she lives abroad and was also recommended it but had no problems.

Hi Barnacles, I’m in the same boat as you. BFP last Monday after 2 MMC with surgical mangement in the last 18 months (last one in August). I have a lovely 4yo who was conceived without too much bother.
There is a lovely board in pregnancy for ppl who are pregnant after a loss. I’ve been on it before but not ready just yet this time. Go and check it out if you haven’t yet - it’s a really supportive space.

I’m less anxious this time as I just won’t trust it’s happening til my anomaly scan. That said, I take super high dose folate (1000whatevers), high vit D and 75mg aspirin, no baths, I’ve cut down caffeine and am not having sex or even risking an orgasm in any way (no evidence whatsoever but I had one before last MMC).

I was on ubuiquinol but have just stopped as everything I read said to stop as soon as you get pregnant. That’ll save some money!!

Congratulations Xx

Haven’t managed to give up caffeine btw! About 3-4 cups of tea a day here...

Hey. I am in the same boat as you. I have a lovely 3.5 year old son and am currently 10+4 with a baby following 2 years of 5 miscarriages. I had all the tests and no reason was found for my miscarriages. My last baby was tested and was found to have a genetic abnormality so miscarriage was inevitable. It's such an anxious time. I debated for a long long time whether to try again and risk going through it all again. Just look after yourself, take it easy and take the recommended vitamins. There is nothing else you can do. That's what I keep telling myself.
