Are preconception/pregnancy multivitamins necessary?

Hi

I've been looking into getting multivitamins but after reading some articles online, it seems only folic acid and vit D are really needed. Though as always there are conflicting opinions on this! It's a bit of a minefield so just wondering if anyone does just take the folic acid and vit D or if everyone generally goes for the multi vit?

Thanks!

NHS advice is folic acid and vit d. I also take vit c (I work with children and want to fight off their germs), omega 3,6,9 and coq10. I’ve down hours of exhaustive research and this is what I’m sticking with.

You’re right. Folic acid and vit d are recommended by the nhs. I take this plus a vit c as I have a short luteal phase and spotting. It’s worth taking just the minimum and making sure you have a well balanced healthy diet too. X

Thanks! Sounds good, I'll just add in some vit D.

I just took folic acid and vitamin D. The case for other vitamins isn't particularly strong unless you have a diagnosed deficiency and a healthy diet will give you what you need.
