PCOS Infertility

Hi everyone,

We have been TTC for 3 years. After a year we visited the GP and we were referred for fertility screening, bloods & semen analysis, we discovered unexpectedly I have PCOS. I had no symptoms, clockwork periods, I am 24 and a healthy weight. I was prescibed metformin at various doses over several months but no luck.

A few months ago, my mum became seriously ill and mentally, I was struggling to cope with it all, so I decided to visit the doctor and took Cerazette for mental break from TTC. I only took it for 2 months.

I felt ready to begin TTC again, but since taking cerazette, and stopping, my period has never returned (4 months later) and I have the worst PCOS symptoms I have ever had.

The worst part, we moved house to an entirely new part of the country in the middle to be back close with family and our new GP/area are reluctant to help and say they cannot proceed with the ferticility clinic treatment we were having previously. We would need to start the process again entirely.

Has anyone experienced any of this? What medication did you try or what helped with your PCOS? I am new to mumsnet and just feeling a little isolated and frustrated.
Thanks for any advice.
X

Hi, I was diagnosed with Pcos in 1992. I take medication called spironalactone which is used for congestive heart failure and primary aldosteronism, basically too much male hormone. I spent my early 20s overweight, hairy, moody and full of severe acne with no periods for about many years. After starting my meds I lost 4 stone in 3 months, skin cleared and mood lifted. Varies gps have sent me to consultants to try metformin or dianette but I’ve stuck to spironalactone as it works for me. I fell in love with my partner 10 years ago and within months I had regular periods, we now have a lovely little family together. Don’t give up, try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Flowers

Hey PCOS is a tricky thing. Symptoms vary from person to person and the whole things makes your life hell when you ttc. My main advice will be to stay patient... unfortunately it's a long process and requires a total sanity. I personally was on Clomid for 3 cycles.... 2 resulted in mcc. But it worked! But obviously exposed another underlying issue.
All I can say - good luck! One day, with the right treatment it will work.... and you will have a sweet little bebe =).
