TTC 1yr and struggling to find ov dates :(

Heya all,

So i've been on here awhile and reading a lot of the Ovulation and TTC threads and finally asking for help. I had the Implanon implant removed November 2016, I'm now having regular cycles (for the first time in my life!) and a very short period (just 2 days!). I had the prelim tests at Drs which showed normal hormones etc but still nothing has happened.

I tried Basal temping but my OH works shifts and can start anytime from at 5am onwards so i wanst able to do it at the same time every day. I've been using the cheap ebay sticks and ramped it up for 3 months to doing them twice a day every day and never got a positive, just a very faint line that never became a dark one.

I managed to put my mind onto house renovations hoping the 'don't think /stress about it' method would work but no luck. I'm getting a bit upset with myself and worried now.

Does anyone have any advise? I'm thinking i should to get more expensive tests in case its them but dont know which ones are worth the money as i'd be testing every days till i figure out my OV days.

Thanks !!

BBT is only useful for looking back and confirming ovulation - it sucks for predicting.

Have you tried the clear blue dual hormone opks? They check estrogen rise as well as LH surge, just in case you miss the LH surge.

Are you also checking cervical fluid

Well the internet cheap ones do usually work for me in terms of light line that gets darker but that's all they do I've heard the clear blue ones are easier to use. I also had implanon out 2015 and my periods have been normal for about 6 months now. Wouldn't surprise me if it effects long term though probably no science behind it grr!

You can get a clear blue set plus 10 test sticks for about £12 from amazon. If your cycles are regular-ish then the guidance in the pack will tell you when to start testing. They give a smiley face to show the hormone surge so it is very clear!

Also wanted to add, if you are ttc over a year then go back to the DRs. It sounds like you have already had day 2-4 & day 21 tests done? If not, ask for them to be done. You can also ask for an ultrasound to check for fibroids/ cysts and/or an HSG to check for any blockages.

Good luck!

Would highly recommend the clear blue digital OPK. They’ve helped me a lot the last 3/4 cycles. I’ve been TTC over a year and have a luteal phase defect.

Clearblue advanced digital are really good and can be bought quite cheaply on amazon. A box of 20 lasted me for three cycles easily.
