Please can someone give me some 'I-had-this/myfriend-had-this-and-still-got-pregnant' advice?

Can I have ovulated if my temperature hasn't shifted? I had normal EWCM in the middle of my cycle, felt that I was fertile, and have been taking my temp reliably ever since. It just hasn't gone up (now day 22 of a usually 26-28 day cycle). My pre-ov is around 36.2, and since I thought I'd ov'd its ranged from 36.0-36.3. I blamed most of those low ones on really bad nights of sleep, But had a good full sleep last night, and had had wine, so expected it to be even higher, and nothing (36.3).

Please can I have some comfort/encouragement. Or if you must, rational logical pull-yourself-together-ness?

I know it makes no difference, but if I knew I couldn't have ov'd then I'd be more prepared for AF, rather than feeling hopeful for PG.

TIA

Hi kayjay sorry your temps aren't playing ball?? I just checked my Fertility Friend help sections and it says the following:

"Why am I getting "flat" temperatures?

If your temperatures seem to be around the same level all the time, the culprit is usually your thermometer. Even when you are taking your temperature at the same time, following all the guidelines, there is usually some fluctuation in temperatures. Your first step is to check your thermometer's battery or get a new thermometer. If your temperatures are still flat, and/or show no sign of a biphasic (ovulatory) pattern when you would expect them to, this is something to ask your doctor about if it happens for a few cycles."

The FF website is quite helpful and you dont have to join up to get the info I think - but there is a free trial period too.

I think I have seen somewhere that there are some women who just do not respond to the progesterone rise with a thermal shift but it is rare

So maybe first port of call is to get a new BBT thermometer!! worth a try??

Hi seaside!

Thanks for replying. This TTC drives me insane. I'm amazed how many hours I can obsess over everything. The thermometer has been bashed a bit, so I think I will get a new one.

I've done the FF stuff - love the graphs. But I can't bring myself to put these flat temps in and have 'no ovulation detected' written in front of me!

So off to the shops for me then. More TTC money -dread to think how much we've spent on tests etc. over the years.

Thanks - it does help with the madness . Good luck with your own madness - hope you get good news very soon!

(impatience would wave back but is currently driving white van round town...)

I would agree with Seaside - get a new thermometer before you start worrying!

You can get a new one from Boots for about £12 - so not too bad.

Good luck.
