Can this affect any attempts of ttc??

Here's my question: About 8 months after bf I am still leaking milk every now and then. Could this mean that I have too much prolactine or whatever that hormone is called and could this affect my fertility? Should I have that checked or just give ttc a go because it is normal? Does anyone else have it or knows anything about that? Please help!

Hi milkymum - great name! prolactin could affect your fertility. I'm actually going for a blood test tomorrow regarding your exact question. I stopped feeding a year ago but was still leaking up until november last year. The dr told me it could affect ovulation. You could ask your gp - it won't harm will it? Good luck

i stopped bf at xmas and was leaking milk for a couple of months - gp said it could affect ov, i agree with buttercup i think its worth going to gp and asking about it - like she says it won't harm (and you now know its not a stupid question!)

it is possible to get pregnant while breastfeeding ( as many of us can testify to!) so i would imagine if your periods have returned to normal you can ttc with no problems

Hi ladies, thanks for answering. PT, I hadn't thought of the fact that I could have gotten pg while bf (took care of it at the time, though) when posting, and my periods are regular now, so I hope to join a ttc/an-thread soon (have to have my coil removed first). Insy and BCB (like both names - and PT as well, I'd prefer red ones though!) I will ask gp when I have my coil removed. BCB, maybe you can let me know what your blood test says? Good luck to you. One of our best friends had too much prolactin and she has 18 mo ds now!!
