Morning all,

I am 25 and my partner is 33. We are TTC, I have fallen pregnant in the past twice however sadly both times I was rushed to hospital with an Ectopic Pregnancy. This resulted in my left tube being removed.

When i was 16/17 I had 3 operations to remove very large cyst's from my ovary's / tubes.

It has been 2 years since I had my left tube taken out and since have not been on any contraception. Went to my doctors who has been amazing and referred me straight away for fertility investigation. My partners sperm has been checked and that is fine. I have also had my ovulation bloods and they have come back perfect. I am extremely concerned that my right tube is blocked and that maybe the reason why I have no conceived since my left tube has been taken out. I have finally got my referral appointment early Nov.

I just want to know if anyone else has been referred to a hospital for fertility investigations and what happens. At your first appointment is it just a chat? Also does anyone know options if your remaining tube is blocked?

Looking also to hear from anyone who may of had a tube removed / cysts and would love to hear some positive BFP to brighten my Friday!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend x

Hi Phoebe. I conceived DC 1 through IVF so can tell you our experience of FC referral. Our first appt was just a chat with the senior IVF nurse to explain what would happen. I was then booked in for a mid cycle ultra sound to see what my ovaries were doing and also a bag which is where they x-ray with contrast dye to check for blocked tubes. After that we saw the consultant who explained all the results to us and recommended 1000mg bit c per day to improve DHs sperm quality as we had male factor infertility. We then had another appointment with the IVF nurse to get all our dates for our IVF then a teaching session for the injections before starting our first round. If you do have a blocked tube I believe IVF is your only option. Depending on the number/quality of eggs and sperm they may do ICSI which is essentially IVF but they inject the sperm into the egg instead of leaving them to naturally get in themselves. Hope that helps.
