Hello everyone . So I have an 18 month old boy and have started feeling very broody . I wanted to wait until my son was around 18 -24 months before trying to conceive . My husband isn't too keen on having another one just yet as he feels my son is a lot of work ( he's a very fussy eater and prematurely going through the terrible twos!) . I've been back at work (part time ) around 8 months now . I was very blessed to get pregnant right away with my first (in the first month I was trying ) . I'm not sure how it will be this time around but am keeping a positive outlook . My husband and I use natural conception (pull out method ) as I wasn't worriedly about getting pregnant with my second . If I start trying now and am lucky and get pregnant right away I'll have a July - August baby. However after speaking to my friends who have summer babies , I've been told that it's better to aim for a due date of September as he/ she will start school only after their 4th birthday . My son is a winter baby so he will start school at. 4.5 years . I never really thought of all this with my first but after speaking to my friends I'm worried . What do you guys think ? Anyone have a sunmer baby or aiming for an Autumn baby? Thanks in advance !! xx

Hi SoozC,
You're right :) looking at how hard everyone has been trying I feel very silly for planning . I've started trying already :) I hope you conceive soon! All the very best :)
And Csd17 - thank you . That really helps :) I've left matters into nature's hands :) x

My son who's 8 is a summer baby end of July he's in top sets for all classes and some who are born 8 months before him are in the lowest sets. Ttc again and if I'm successful this month then that baby will be July too... to me doesn't matter when they are born ect

I think if you want another baby you may as well get on with it, personally I have never for a moment considered what time of year I might have a baby.

I too fell pregnant first go with DC1- never gave much thought to the due date.

DC2- I again fell pregnant first go but unfortunately it was bad news at the dating scan. This was 16 months ago and we've not yet managed to conceive again.

Honestly, any due date at all would be fabulous!

What I'm trying to say is- don't try to analyse or over plan things- sometimes life doesn't work out the way you want it to.

Good luck

PS I'm a late summer baby & one of the youngest in my year, but I always did well and went on to earn two university degrees

I know a lot of posters have very bright summer borns but statistically they don't catch up with autumn born children till secondary.

Hi TurquoiseDress
Thank you ! I think I've just been over - thinking and over - analysing things . My husband also wasn't very keen to start trying for baby no 2 now as he still has nightmares about my last pregnancy and delivery 😂. But I managed to convince him and stopped thinking so much myself :) Have been actively trying now so let's see . I want another baby so much that waiting did seem silly . And just because I was lucky the first time round to conceive right away doesn't mean it will happen now . There are so many lovely smart young ladies who were born in the summer - it's really put my mind at ease now :) thank you for your words :) Sorry about your loss and Congratulations on your new addition!:)

Hi there, I’m finding it hard to understand when I should try for a baby if I wish for a September child. I fall very quickly (I’m very lucky) and the last two times we fell the first month of trying. I know this may not happen this time but I would like to try for a September baby. I have an avage 30 day cycle and seem to start my period around the 25-27th of each month. Do doctors date your pregnancy from your last period? With my other two I came off contraption and fell before having a period. But this time I’ve been contraption free for the last 5 months. I needed a dating scan the last times as I never knew when I got pregnant. I don’t want a August baby (if this can be helped). Any help would be wonderful smile xxx

There is an added bonus to summer babies nobody seems to think about.... Birthday paries! We had some lovely ones in the park... Treasure hunt, picnic, bug hunt and other outdoor activities! Grin

I was an end of August baby and it never held me back. Still being 29 when all my school friends had already turned 30 was excellent haha! Being off school on your birthday every year is also great.

And as others have pointed out, there are so many variables and it could take a while/ages anyway.

Hi everyone . Thank you all for your helpful insights . I am pregnant and expecting a summer baby :) Im just very happy to be pregnant again and won’t be worrying about the whole summer baby thing . I’ll see how I feel once he/she needs to start school . It will be nice to have a summer baby and be able to get out with the little one (especially as I can’t really stay indoors with another toddler ) . Goodluck to everyone whose trying .😊

Congratulations :)

Pebblesandblamblam · 22/11/2017 16:33

Wow, that was quick! Did you eat yams? ;-)

Congrats to you!

sara28 · 30/08/2018 14:49

Hi pebblesandblamblam,
Thank you. No yams . I'm very lucky . I don't know if it makes a difference but I've never taken any contraceptive except the pull out method . It's worked for me so far (no accidents thank god!). I think it may take longer if someone is on the pill etc . I'm just very grateful :) have had another boy a month ago!;) Goodluck to everyone else out here :)xx
