Hi All
A friend of mine (she's the daughter of my dhs godparents, they're close but I've only known her a couple of years) told me that she and her dh have been trying to conceive for over 4 years now and are thinking about IVF. We all thought they (or rather he) didn't want/weren't ready for kids so it took me rather by surprise.
My question is how much info should I offer to give her?? I have a ds and am pregnant with my second child (which is how the topic came up) but we struggled both times, lots of miscarriages and heartache and seriously considered IVF. The thing is I have loads of info about it that I really want to give her. My hearts breaking for them both and I want to help any way I can I just don't want to intrude or seem bossy as they're both quite private people. What do you guys think I should do??? Any thoughts or advice very very gratefully received...

she's taken the first step - do you know them well enough to invite them for coffee - then you could give her your info. It can be lonely doing all the treatments so she might like to have you to talk to about it.

Could you just say "We had problems conceving and researched IVF. If you'd like to talk about it/have the info i found please just let me know" If the subject came up or you felt it was a good time.

Unfortunately they live 3 hours away, they were here visiting for the weekend. I was thinking I could email her the stuff I have and let her know I'm here if she wants to talk

email is a good form of communication as it kreeps a distance if she wants but can also help all sorts of thoughts/emotions come out. I'd say test the water & see what she wants from you - you sound a good friend & this is what she needs.
