My partner and I are TTC for the first time. However, I'm worried about his age?
Firstly I'm worried it'll make it take much longer to conceive
Secondly I'm worried about risk of DS or other health issues.
I really want it to be the case that we'll be able to conceive without much hassle, and I know I'm at a great age to conceive, but does his age impact that?
I know no one can give anything other than opinions, but we're just starting out TTC and I want to go into it knowing the possibilities.

Male age isn't really an issue as far as I'm aware. I don't think their fertility starts to decline until much later (think 50s/60s).

36 is hardly elderly!!! Downs is not caused by male issues, but with the egg. Before getting all these strange ideas, read a few books and do some googling on the biology. You're stressing over a non issue. Male age is only shown to affect conception (and only by a small amount) after 40s.

He's only 36! I really don't think it will be a problem.

It actually is a factor in a number of conditions including risk of miscarriage and time to conception, but that's principally true for men 40+.

A healthy man of 36 is unlikely to have any issues whatsoever.

There shouldn't be any issues with his seem until he hits 40 or so

36 really isn't that old!! I'm sure the average age of a first-time dad in England is Wales is around 32/33 so he's only marginally older. Really not worth stressing about.

Hope all goes well for you, and don't panic if it doesn't happen straight away as sometimes it just takes time and perseverance!
