I have about 16 to 18 days between positive ovulation test and period. Is it more likely that I ovulate 4 days after positive ov test or can the luteal phase be longer than 14 days?

It can be longer. Up to 16 is within 'normal' margins according to NHS www.nhs.uk/Livewell/menstrualcycle/Pages/Whatisthemenstrualcycle.aspx

If you get a positive opk, you ov 12-48 hours later. The day after ov is 1 dpo. So it seems you've been counting positive opk as 1 dpo?? When in fact it's -1 dpo... probably/ possibly?

I believe there can be one or two days' variation on either side of 14 for luteal phase length, so a 16 day luteal phase is possible, but 18 days doesn't sound right. Is this a one off or does it happen every month? The LH surge (what the test is looking for) usually happens 24-36 hours before ovulation, but it can be earlier.
