All I want for Christmas is a baby

I'm 33 and have been told in the last week that I am not ovulating and have been referred to a fertility specialist to discuss options, which will likely be "ovary stimulation".

I am trying to stay positive and hopeful and want to prepare my body to give me the best possible chance of falling pregnant either naturally or assisted.

My referral is likely to take months before I even have an initial appointment.

What can I be doing now to prepare my body to be totally ready for whatever path we have to take?

Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Thank you!

Do you have irregular cycles? Pcos?

babywhen · 22/09/2017 21:18

I stopped having regular cycles at the start of the year and as the months went by and they didn't sort themselves out, the doctor did a hormone blood test and scan. No to pcos and scan was clear but I had some low levels in a certain hormone which meant I wasn't ovulating so referred me.

The best thing you can do is relax your body will appreciate that.

Hi @babywhen I'm sorry to hear this I'm about to start a conversation with the Drs about this. We've been trying for a little while but my cycles are all over the place and I started taking my temps. They're all over the place so I'm sure I have some issues with hormones. I'm also 33 and I totally understand your desire to have a baby! My OH has an 11year old who I love but now I want my own and kids with him.
Sending hugs and crossing fingers for you that they find the root cause and can help you to get that BFP!
Try to relax and keep DTD you may find that one month whilst waiting for the tests you happen to Ovulate and you happen to just catch the egg. You never know. Xx

Mammiebear, it really isn't that simple... I'm sure you're trying to be helpful, but your advice is not true for everyone, especially when dealing with medical issues that cause infertility such as anovulation. If it were this simple, my first pregnancy over a year ago would have worked and I would have had a successful pregnancy at some point in the intervening period.

Try acupuncture by a person that specializes in fertility.
It can balance your hormones and stimulate ovaries naturally.

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I'm similar age and have been in your position. I was TTC for 3.5 years. I'm currently pregnant after a surgical procedure, but I remember the wait in-between appointments feeling life a life-time.

The best thing for you to do in the mean-time is look after yourself and your body. My DH and I both took a good quality conception-vitamin (I took Pregnacare) and I also took Omega 3 because I knew I was lacking. I also changed my eating habits and chose to eat organic where possible - I know changes like this aren't for everyone. I didn't make any changes that were difficult to stick to as I think you still need to enjoy life and the last thing you want to do is put any extra pressure on yourself.

I still put every effort in to trying each month as you just never know if one month your hormones might spike. I continued to chart each month as it helped me to understand my body so much more, which definitely helped when it came to TTC after my operation. I was lucky enough to get pregnant the first month of trying after years of nothing! Good luck x

.......oh also, although I never did this myself, have a Google of Caster Oil Packs. This is believed to boost fertility naturally. I was going to try this as a last ditch attempt before I found out that I actually needed surgery to help me.
