I had a miscarriage and was told my lining was thin. I've had two cycles since, 20 days. Confirmed ovulation and luteal phase of 10 days. I had a scan that again showed thin lining. My periods are extremely light. 4 days of bleeding that requires 2 or 3 light pads. That's it.

Is this a sign of my fertility going? I'm 23...I had bloodwork done before my miscarriage and it was okay.

I also suspect I have PCOS. But no one will take me seriously because my periods were regular before. I was on the pill though, so I think it's because of that. When not on the pill they've been irregular but only by a few days.

We really want another baby, and we are considering skipping ahead to IVF because I'm terrified this is early ovarian failure. Any advice?

If you've had a scan for lining surely they would have seen pco on that scan.

There are some ways of improving lining mostly through diet and exercise.

Short cycles are a good thing with ttc!! More chances to get pregnant!!

It could just be your body recovering/ adjusting after the pill and miscarriage. How long have you been off the pill? It takes some people up to a year to adjust post-pill.

Very sorry for your loss.

How thin was your lining? You could try a baby aspirin a day, raspberry red leaf tea up until ovulation and vitamin E, some people say this helps. Thin womb lining is a reversible side effect of being off the pill, how long were you off when you conceived?

No reason to think it's early ovarian failure! And a 10 day luteal phase is considered adequate so you should be fine.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Kate they did see something cut I don't know how many and if it were normal. She just said "these are eggs that haven't ovulated".

I actually conceived on the pill and cake off as soon as I realised, so may.

Lining was 6mm on O day

What bloodwork did you have and what were the results?

What is the follow-up from the scan?

6mm is not exceptionally thin (but a bit thin) but as already suggested there are things you can do to fix it, so I would suggest trying some of those.

Honestly, the pill really really can mess with you and only time will tell what some of your symptoms are and if there is a problem with your fertility. Normally, they suggest a year of ttc before running tests, but as you've already had tests, I would also think it's reasonable to follow them up with a doctor to discuss what those results mean.

FSH 6.3 LH 5.5 but it was done during a really long cycle because we didn't know why I wasn't getting a period.

Gynae are getting in touch. I've only had these tests because I was worried about irregular periods and then after that because they thought I had a swollen tube, but turns out I didn't.

I'm really worried that there's something wrong.

I'm taking Vitex and B6 as well as drinking pomegranate juice.

Start from the beginning. You said you were regular before, but now you were irregular before mc?? How long have you been ttc? What bc before? When did you stop it?

I do suspect it's unlikely you are 'losing your fertility' at 23... so take it one step at a time...

Tell us the history.

DragonsandDungeons · 16/09/2017 12:15

I was regular on the pill. Without the pill, I was out by a few days each time. So 27 days, then 29, then 30, then 27. But always every month ish.

I had one weird long cycle and they tested my levels because I was worried.

Been trying since I miscarried in July. I had to have surgery in august for retained products and have had two periods since.

Got pregnant on the pill. Had been changing pills due to side effects and was crap at taking it so I suspect that's why.

I have a two year old DS.

Ok, I'm not a doctor, but a reasonably informed lay person from ttc for the past 18 months. I'm a compulsive researcher (I am a scientist afterall). Here are my two pence: give your body time to heal and recover from the mc. In the meantime, look at the ways to improve your uterine lining. Several things have already been mentioned, and I'd suggest rasberry red leaf tea.

Some people with pcos struggle to conceive (I have just been diagnosed as I have pco, cycles ranging from 28-39 days and a few physical symptoms as well). And others with pcos don't. You already have a child. So give ttc another year and then see where you're at. You're young - give yourself time.

Kate with raspberry red leaf, I've read you only take it up to ovulation? Is that correct?

OP posts:
McTufty · 16/09/2017 13:59

Yes that is correct - it can make your womb contract so don't have it once you've ovulated.

DragonsandDungeons · 16/09/2017 14:29

Thanks. How much vitamin E?

McTufty · 16/09/2017 14:38

The article I found says 600mg a day, but I take 2x 400mg per day (can't find a 600mg tablet!)
