Soft cup equivalent

When I was ttc my dd (3 years ago), soft cups were recommended to me on this forum.
I've just tried to purchase some more, as we will be ttc again in a few months, only to find that they are nolonger available. They have been replaced by flex cups that you have to get shipped from America.
I was wondering if anyone has experience of using any other menstrual cups as a fertility aid please?

Have you tried searching for the Moon Cup - sounds like what you're after. Also, how are they used as a fertility aid?

You shove them in after dtd, and they keep the semen close to the cervix.

I'm not sure if the mooncup is too deep? The soft cups were wider and shallower (different fit to the mooncup).

I have wondered about these. I might be being dim, but is there not a possibility that the softcup thingy could actually block the swimmers from getting to the cervix? Biology not my strong point!!

stevensupersquirrel · 14/09/2017 16:44

I guess it's possible, but from experience, I've used them on two cycles and got a bfp both times (could be coincidence obviously), so I'm keen to use them again.

Knowing my luck they would probably get trapped on the wrong side of the thing! Grin

State the obvious alert! Sorry Blush - I should have guessed!

Not sure how far up the moon cup sits. I haven't actually used one. My GP told me not to with the coil as the suction caused can sometimes pull it out. Might look into one now...

Amazon does still sell soft cups. But they are pretty dear. Dunno If thats of any use to you.

stevensupersquirrel · 14/09/2017 19:04

Yeah I saw they had some but over £50 for 12 (I seem to think I paid about £6 previously). The American ones are only $15 for 24 but I'm worried what tax and royal mail charges I may get hit with.

I've just tried with flex cups this month. Bought then in NY. They are really different to anything I've found in UK which I don't think would fit over the cervix in the same way. Ebay? Or Amazon?

HappyHedgehog247 · 14/09/2017 22:07

PS I don't think I'm pregnant so need to hold on to the spares to keep trying but if it turns out I am I will post mine to you!

stevensupersquirrel · 15/09/2017 14:12

Oh happy that's so lovely of you! I hope they do work for you - I found them very easy to use and do think they helped me.
I actually bit the bullet though signed up to their subscription last night; hopefully the initial trial pack is enough and I can cancel before the price goes up.

What about a cap/diaphragm but putting it in after rather than before?! It's very wide and shallow as is designed to give a good seal and you can buy in boots.

stevensupersquirrel · 15/09/2017 16:14

ooh you may be on to something secret

I do worry about trapping the little fellas on the wrong side of the cup but I keep reusing the ones I've got as learnt they were no longer available...
