Hi,

Been here a while and thought, I don't see many posts how one got their BFP!! So in the name of TTC-ers, would the newly BFP-ers share their successes.

Were you planning, strategically trying, been through the hsg/bloods/ivf meetings/had ivf/clomid, addicted to ovulation testing, random night out, thought 'fuck it' then it happened...

Share your BFP love guys...

DC1 went on some meds that stopped my contraceptive pill working 😬

DC2 no idea. I was on the pill for that one too. Never trusted the pill again!

Now ttc #3 on cycle 2 but considerably older and more haggered lol

I second legs in the air as aiding my conception previously!
TMI But we did the deed this morning I was lying there as normal with hips elevated after, I sneezed and pretty sure I sneezed out the semen 😳

Legs in the air for me from now on!

I was ttc #2 since December 2016. With my first I fell quickly so thought it would be easy. Totally wrong! By cycle 3 I was opking, temping and trawling the forums like a madwoman. Every time AF was due I would drive myself (and OH) nuts! Turning point for me was late July/early August when I had a chemical. I had a faint (but noticeable) line on a FRER at around 11DPO and got really excited. Bought a 'I've been promoted to big sister' Tshirt for my 2 yo dd and was planning on taking a digital and then having her give it to him as a surprise. Took the digital at 12DPO and 'not pregnant'. I was devastated. The next cycle, this one just gone, I didn't do anything. Just DTD pretty regularly but no opking or temping or anything. I actually really relaxed. Then about 3 days before AF was due to start I had low lying nausea. Also I was tired all the time and got a cold. I had lower back pain and AF style cramps. I waited until a day after she was due (unwilling to risk disappointment of another chemical) and there it was. My BFP! Now nearly 5 weeks pregnant and progressing nicely. So there is hope and as cliche as it sounds I think relaxing really does help! Once I took all the stress out of it it worked! Good luck to all who are ttc and tons of baby dust Smile

Coming from someone who has been trying for a baby for almost 3.5 years, this is what I did to finally get my BFP (side note, I have endometriosis and ovarian cysts which also impacts my fertility):

In the run up to my BFP I had changed my prenatal vitamins to the Pregnacare all singing all dancing (expensive) ones and I also took high dose Omega 3. I also made my DH take vitamins too. I changed my diet to mainly Organic where possible.

I had kept a record of my cycles on Ovia App for 4 months to help me understand my cycle, so that I knew exactly when I would ovulate. I used the clear blue ovulation sticks to back this up. In the end I was able to predict the exact day even though I have irregular cycles.

On my successful cycle, we decided to go all out and dtd every single day in my fertile window including the day I ovulated. We had never done this before. We used to opt for every other day-ish as I had heard this was better for his swimmers but apparently this only applies to men with low sperm count.

I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant.
Good luck x

After 18 months of trying I had an AMH test done which showed I had a low ovarian reserve. I was devastated but was given advice on things to do to maximise success, including using OPKs.

I know the day of conception as DP and I had only done it once in the space of a few weeks due to work commitments etc. I had a feeling the OPK would be positive so I had a can of knock off red bull to keep me awake in the evening. When I got home I tested and the OPK was positive. I went in to tell DP who said 'what now?' to which I replied that he had time to finish his cup of tea first!

Two weeks later, I was cursing the fact that my period hadn't arrived as I'd been referred for tests and couldn't get them done until day 2 of my cycle. It then dawned on me that maybe I was pregnant.

When I got that BFP I thought it mad for an amusing story and had a chuckle to myself. Sadly it wasn't to be and I miscarried - still waiting for another BFP.

My main tip would be continue to dtd after you get positive opk and keep testing until you're sure the opk is negative, I often had 2 surges. Also just because opk is positive doesn't mean you're ovulating at that second you've got at least 12-48 hrs past the positive opk before you ovulate, occasionally a bit longer!

Oh I'm 13 weeks pregnant with baby 1 and have had 2 miscarriages whilst on my ttc journey

MrsCharlieD · 10/09/2017 13:16

Ds took 4 years. I was very naive about ttc and genuinely thought there was something wrong with me. I have high bmi and was too scared to go to the doctors so we just kind of gave up and got in with life. Needless to say a positive test which I only took after being forced to by my sil after I complained of unbelievable tiredness and sore boobs but no period. Turned out I was already 7 weeks pregnant. Ds is now 3.

With dc2 we started trying around April last year. I used the ovia app initially and just checked my cm. After 3 months of nothing I tried telling but was useless at remembering to do it. Tried ic opks and then after 7 months of nothing I decided to use the cb digital opks. I got my bfp the first time I used them and am now 35 weeks pregnant.

excellent thread!

5 years of TTC - meticulous charting, temp taking, ovulation sticks, timing sex, different positions, vitamins, diet, legs in the air, pre-seed, moon cups, cough mixture, acupuncture, no alcohol, stress, arguments, misery, despair ... nothing. BFN every.single.month.

Suddenly we're going to be homeless (renting). One month warning after 6 happy years. Panic! Clear out, packing, panic, house hunting, cleaning, panic, moving - did i say panic? - then clearing jungle garden in the new place. Friends wedding in the middle of it all - legless drunk on neat Jack Daniels to drown our sorrows and one very drunken shag in hotel with DH. No other sex all month. 4 weeks of not thinking for ONE SECOND about TTC at all. No time or energy!

One week into new house ... late period Confused

Surely not? Hmm

You guessed it Grin
