Is this "normal"?

I've been pregnant twice. Both times were down to a missed pill. So fairly easily really. My daughter is now 9 but my last pregnancy ended in termination for reasons I'd rather not go into. I went onto the implant straight away and only came off it in December last year as I wanted to give myself time to grieve. Me and my partner decided we would ttc once it was out. It's now my 10th cycle of ttc. I'm not using any kind of birth control but as of yet, nothing is happening. I'm not going ttc insane as I don't want to stress myself so I know my fertile days and i ovulate the same time every month so I just have sex around then. My cycles have been crazy regular since coming off the implant. I had a couple of US scans due to some ovary pain, the first found an "anomaly" but the second a few months later showed nothing and they measured my lining and said it was perfect. I haven't had any fertility tests as of yet as we've not been ttc for a year yet but I was just wondering, would you say this was normal? I know that it's totally normal to be ttc for years and years. But to get pregnant twice, both times after missing just one pill but be completely unsuccessful when not on any contraception and timing intercourse, is that anything to worry about? Is it likely that there's an issue I should be prepared to face at some point? It's frustrating because I know they won't offer me any kind of answers until I've been trying for longer but right now I don't know if I'm wasting my time :/

I've been ttc for almost a year and have been on lots of these threads and I'd say there is no rhyme or reason to getting pregnant ... I very much doubt there is anything wrong chic but I'm no doctor ... just a long time ttc'er
Xxx

Thanks for the reply hippychick ttc can really suck, huh. I'm not as far in as others on here but I worry that maybe the fact I can't seem conceive now after having done so whilst actually trying to prevent pregnancy is a warning sign that something isn't right. I just figured you were either able to have babies whenever you want or you would struggle and not a combination of the two. My little sister is pregnant right now (an accidental one) and that's getting me down a little. My periods have got much shorter since coming off the implant which is causing me concern as well. I guess I'll have to stick it out for a year then see if the dr can help me. I hope you get that positive pregnancy test soon :) xxx

Do you track ovulation at all? I ask because you say you have short AF. It could be that you are ovulating late and have a short luteal phase, and I only say this because that's what I suffer from. I've been TTC a year. Hope it happens for you soon. X

Hi mouselove I was tracking ovulation for the first 5 months. It was always bang on time every month (day 14) and period always comes on day 28 (or spotting starts day 28, period starts day 29) AF has never been THAT long for me, maybe 5 days at the very most. Now it's usually 2/3 days, day one is medium flow, maybe go through 3/4 tampons then any other day after that is extremely light flow and/or brown spotting. It's the most pathetic excuse for a period really although the cramps and mood swings are still there full throttle lol Have you had investigations as you've been ttc for a year now? I hope it happens soon so you too :) xx

That's one positive thing for you. It might just be luck that it's taking a little Ionger for you. I'm not completely ready to take the next step to start investigations as I know some of my problems might not be solved easily. I medicate for hyperthyroidism which I found out about during my first pregnancy. Unfortunately I had a mmc at 10 weeks back in February so while some may find it a hard saying, at least I know I'm not completely infertile. 😢

I was told I might have Asherman's after an anomaly was seen on an US although a follow up US showed nothing there however Asherman's would make sense as it's caused by d&c on a pregnant or recently pregnant uterus and the main symptoms are infertility and lack of periods (including lighter/shorter ones) If I did have it, that would be game over for me as I couldn't afford the specialist treatment. I'm sorry to hear about your mmc :( that must have been so difficult but I suppose on one hand it shows you CAN get pregnant. Fingers crossed that it's your turn soon :) xx
