Hi everyone Smile

Not sure if this is the right section, but here goes. Two weeks ago today I had medical management of miscarriage. It was a missed miscarriage, should of been 10 weeks but scan showed baby died at 8 weeks 4 days.

Within half an hour of medication I expelled everything, nurse said it was complete as she checked what I passed. Bleeding stopped 4 days after, the odd spotting here and there but nothing massive. Pain literally stopped as soon as I had passed.

I have been doing the deed since the bleeding stopped, and had negative pregnancy tests for the last few days so no need to go back to the ward.

Yesterday I started getting some low down cramps, possibly more left sided I feel. It's almost like period pain but surely I can't be due on so soon after a miscarraige? Is this normal after being pain free for so long? I was hoping everything would go back to normal now so disappointed that this has started now. Paracetamol has done little to alleviate the pain, it's not severe but it's enough that I'm constantly aware of it and uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this or has any idea what it could be? Been reading a lot on this forum and found it so helpful so far so I'm hoping one of you lovely lot have any ideas for what this could be. Also if I was trying to work out when my period would be due would I use the day I had the medication and passed everything completely as day one? Then I guess I could predict I would be due on 28 days later, or in two weeks if that is the case.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for your loss.

If you now have negative pregnancy tests, then I would guess that you are ovulating and it is ovulation pain. Being pregnant can really change your cycles and there is no predicting when you will ovulate or have your first period post-miscarriage, some women don't have there first period up til 7 weeks later. But some women do go back to a more-or-less regular cycle immediately after a miscarriage. Mine always returned within 26-31 days.

If you still have pain in a few days or are worried, then do go back to get checked out, as it is possible to retain product, but normally that is with a positive test still.

Thanks so much for that, I've never had ovulation pain before (or never noticed it). They said at hospital it would be unlikely to have retained products as it looked complete, so the negative tests reassured me somewhat.

I'll keep an eye on it, and keep my fingers crossed that everything goes back to normal now!

If it is ovulation pain, and we DTD last night and this morning, could there be a chance I could get pregnant? It would be nice but I'm also quite worried in case the same thing happens again. I am reassured from reading on here that people have got pregnant before having a period and had successful pregnancies, but I still can't help but worry.

Only natural I guess, as first miscarriage and second pregnancy. First pregnancy was a doddle, found out at 20 weeks and delivered at 36 with no pregnancy symptoms, no morning sickness cravings or anything and this time round was completely different

I'm sorry about your loss Flowers
I had the same after my MC. I'd never felt ovulation before but it was really painful for 2 cycles after.
Take it as a good sign that things are doing what they should. best of luck x

Thanks :) I just want everything back to normal now I'm sick of trying to understand what is going on with my own body. It seems to have stopped today but it woke me up at 4am it went quite painful. Why do men have it so much easier?! Just wondering I think I am ovulating as noticed a change in CM that I haven't really noticed before, if I am ready to actually be pregnant again. Can't help but be terrified at the prospect x

You need a dan and swabs to exclude retained products and/or infection. Most hospitals have an emergency gynae service. 💐

I've had a couple of mmc and a mc and had really bad ovulation pain after all of them. Never notice or get it normally but mc seems to really set it off! It is very possible that you might end up pregnant. Pregnancy after mc is very stressful but there is a good thread on the pregnancy board when the time comes. There's also a ttc after mc thread on this board that might be worth checking out. You have a very good chance of all being absolutely fine next time around Flowers

Thanks for that at least I'm not the only one! Im now terrified in case I am pregnant as just found out the day we found out our baby had died my partner was calling his ex, and for the full two weeks after he was messaging her and calling her whilst lying to my face. How he could do that when we were losing a baby is beyond me, I'm so hurt and confused :(
