Hi guys

My gyno has prescribed me to go onto Norethisterone due to my periods being all over the place. Ive been trying to conceive but im noticed whilst being on these i dont ovulate as i do the ovulation sticks everyday. Is there something i dont know? Can you still conceive being on this? Will i ever be able to conceive after these? Stressed :(

Hi, as far as I know its a progesterone mimicking pill. So I assume that will be why you're not ovulating?
I'm on them to induce a bleed before I start clomid. I have to take them for 7 days only though.
Were you ovulating before you took them?

Cbalnot · 29/08/2017 12:32

Before i took them i was trying the ovulation sticks and they would never come up positive. I did have a period but it would either be on for months or at times be normal. Im so worried that maybe ive never ovulated but if thats the case how would i have had a period?

I am on these at the moment too, just for 2 weeks to stop an ongoing period. Apparently they may rebalance things. Have you told them you are ttc?

Cbalnot · 29/08/2017 13:17

I told them im ttc but they said i need to try this first to regulate my periods but im
Worried now that i might not be ovulating at all Confused

Ive been given 5 months worth i dont know wether to just come off them
After this week and see if its regulated anything or to just do the full 5 month course

Could you go back to them and ask why you need to take them for so long? 5 months seems quite a long time to be on them, they're not giving your body time to ovulate or try to regulate on it's own. Is it your gp who has prescribed them?
I haven't ovulated since my miscarriage in June, but I have been having bleeds every 4 weeks so it is possible to have a period type bleed without ovulating.

Cbalnot · 29/08/2017 13:50

The gynocologist prescribed them. I might come off them after this finaly week

I'm not sure you really need 5 months! That's a long time. Are they investigating the cause of the problem first?

Cbalnot · 29/08/2017 16:20

Well they have done all there checka internal external scans, everything seems fine as no one has got back to me for 2 months now. I have no idea what to think or to expect unless i here from the specialist. I really dont know what to do

Have you had your bloods done on day 3 of your cycle?
When do you see the specialist again?

Cbalnot · 29/08/2017 18:50

Ive had bloods on day 3 and day 21 they said it was all good. So i have no idea what this can be, they ruled out PCOS

If your day 21 bloods were good I think that would indicate you're ovulating on your own.
They measure progesterone which will tell them if you've ovulated.
I'd maybe make another appointment and ask for investigations. There must be some reason this is going on. Seems odd to just give you 5 months of progesterone. Hmm

I think il chase up the doctors today. Ive decided to come off the tablets this week to see if i can ovulate on my own after the bleed
