Missed period but negative test

First time posting and was hoping that someone can help.

My periods are normally 25-27 days apart and generally spotting 2 days before. I have had a weird feeling since Tuesday that my period wouldn't show up this month. Tested yesterday on day 27 with an Asda's own test which was negative (possible evap line). This morning on day 28 I tested with a clearblue digital and first response. Both were negative.

I am completely baffled with what is happening. My periods are never this late. I have no indication that one is on its way. No spotting or sore boobs.

What else could it be? I have been pregnant before (had to terminate) and my period was behaving the same way it is doing now. But last time I tested positive on day 28. I was so sure that this was my month, but now I don't know what to think. I am almost hoping for my period to show up just so I will get some sort of answer.

Any tips or ideas?

Thank you in advance

There's about four threads a week on this topic I'm afraid. It's very common.

Generally the poster isn't pregnant and her period shows up eventually. In rare circumstances people get a late bfp or they turn out to have another reason (e.g. ovarian cyst) for a missed or very late period. But bottom line is it's very common to have an occasional anovulatory period or very late period and there often isn't any particular reason. Sometimes if you've been doing a lot of exercise or cutting calories significantly or just stressed it delays your period.

Only time will tell. GPs often won't do blood tests until you've missed a second period.
