Hi peeps 😊
Cycle #2 of TTC #3
According to ovia app im entering my fertile window tomorrow.
I have to go for an MRI scan next thursday and im wondering if this will have any effect on implantation if we are lucky enough to conceive this cycle.
Any opinions ladies? Its worrying me a bit. Thanks in advance

I shouldn't think so. Ask your radiographer whether MRI is contra-indicated in pregnancy, but I can't see why it would be. I've seen a fabulous MR image of a researcher and her baby in utero.

Assuming the scan is for medical purposes (and not for research) - let the scan technician know in advance that you may be pregnant and see what they suggest. I work in research, not diagnostics, and could not work on MRI studies once I became pregnant (even though I would be outside the main scan room, it is still considered an unacceptable level of risk for a prolonged period).

However as a one-off and for clinical purposes I imagine it should be fine. I've definitely seen cool fMRI videos of babies in-utero

Nope you should not have the MRI while pregnant. You should stop ttc if you haven't ovulated yet. The dr may refuse as mine did.

I got my MRI scan date and stopped TTC immediately. I ovulated 4 days later and fell pregnant from an O-4 conception. I only found out on the morning of my MRI when I took a test to rule pregnancy out. They didn't scan me and said it would be too risky at this very early stage as everything is so delicate.

That pregnancy unfortunately ended in mmc at 10 weeks as I had medical issues. I had my MRI a month later in march this year.

If unsure, ask! There should be a number on your form.

Thanks ladies! My mri is less than a week after ovulation (providing i ovulate on the same day as last month). So it would really only be around implantation or just before. I will mention it when i go for my scan.
I will be cd15 of a 25-27 day cycle.

Following as I'm in exactly the same boat as you...I was about to post this myself!

ThreeAfter30 · 24/08/2017 18:04

Sassy when have you got yours?

I've got mine mid September which is annoying because I can't try this cycle in case I get pregnant and it also means when I have the scan I'll be on cd10, so highly unlikely to have ovulated by then but not sure if it has any effect on things because I think the 'follicle' will be pretty much ready to be an egg by this point (don't quote me on that my science isn't 100%!) so no idea if that affects anything. After a previous loss at 13 weeks I'm always extra cautious now.

Aww sorry for your loss sassy, and yours too mouse 😔 that must have been heartwrenching for the both of you.

Ive got a microadenoma which is why im having the scan but im hopeful nothings changed (ie hope it hasnt got any bigger)as last bloods taken showed my prolactin levels back to normal thankfully

This is only cycle two and you know you can get pregnant so I would skip TCC this month. Rather that than the scan being refused and then prosponed until after pregnancy or having to not tcc next cycle and therefore losing cycle three.

ThreeAfter30 · 26/08/2017 10:02

Lucked i dont know i can get pregnant, ttc num 3 with my new partner and he doesnt have any kids. I think ive ov early this month as i had ewcm streaked with blood yesterday,so its too late to do anything about it now as we already dtd on thursday and on tuesday. Ill mention it when i go for my scan next week
