How long after the Mirena coil was removed did you conceive?

It Took me 9/10 months to conceive after coming of the pill (Yasmin I think it was) as my periods were all over the place. That was 5 years ago.

My coil is due to be taken out anyway so will probably leave it out and see what happens, anyone have any experience with conceiving after the coil?

2 cycles. Removed it in March and got my BFP at the end of May. I know some people didn't get a BFP for months though, good luck x

Also I don't know if it makes any difference but I only had my coil for about 9-10 months.

Do you know when you ovulate? I'm having my Mirena out next week and have no idea, so I'm also unsure as to how long it'll take to get back into regular cycles.

Have you had periods throughout?

PinkPrittStick · 23/08/2017 15:19

I had 2 periods a month with my Mirena, they were getting lighter just before I had it removed. Afterwards I used opks to check that I was ovulating, I know they don't confirm ovulation but it did help to pin point the fertile window. Also my cycle went back to 28 days as soon as I had it removed.

I had the mirena for 4 years. Got it out in May 2012 was pregnant by June 2012. So straight away. Just had my second mirena removed at start of August, currently in my 2ww. Hoping to get lucky again Smile

Good luck all!

It took me 4 months to have a chemical pregnancy and 6 months to have a viable pregnancy (now 16 weeks, fingers crossed).

I think the problem was that my periods were very light afte the mirena removal (they disappeared when in) and so it took 6 months to get back to normal. The doctor said it should be possible straight away, but it wasn't for me.

2 months.

Mrstumbletap · 24/08/2017 16:16

Ah my periods have been non existent with the coil too, oh dear is that not a good sign then?

Have people had periods regularly on the coil then? And then gone on to conceive relatively quickly?

I thought periods pretty much disappeared with the coil.

Period do usually disappear with Mirena so that doesn't mean you'll have a problem. The doctor seemed very sure that I could conceive straight away so that's probably more common. I was just unlucky I guess.

Constantlurker · 24/08/2017 20:01

I had the coil for the full 5 years (best thing ever) but wasn't quite ready to try straight away as we were getting married. Went on the pill for 6 months then came off in November, conceived in March. I thought it would take MUCH longer having had the coil for so long so we were thrilled.

PinkPrittStick · 24/08/2017 22:38

Periods usually do disappear but I think with some people it just takes some time, when I told my doctor I was getting 2 periods he basically explained that it's normal and as months go by they should get lighter and stop (I have endometriosis so maybe my body reacted differently?) he was pretty certain that once removed I would be able to conceive fairly quickly.

Writerwannabe83 · 25/08/2017 11:10

I continued to have periods with my Mirena. My periods were far lighter and lasted fewer days but they came on a regular 33 day cycle.

I've had two Mirenas and on both occasions of having it removed for TTC I was pregnant within 5 weeks.

Mrstumbletap · 28/08/2017 23:16

Oh ok, I sometimes have light spotting, but I'm actually going to log that on my app as maybe what would have been my period, so I can kind of get an idea of ovulation. Getting the coil taken out next week, so will have to see what happens. Eeekk

I'm going to have my cool out soon. Not gonna be ttc until this time next year.

But I've had mine in for two years, and the last time I had it removed I didn't fall pregnant :( so time to try again.

Mrstumbletap · 29/08/2017 21:50

What will you do for protection until next year?
