Pregnant with Mirena coil?

I'm after some advice please. I've had a Mirena coil for over a year and haven't had any problems.

I've been feeling really tired and cramping all week so took an old test today from my cupboard. I was so convinced it would be negative I took it midstream when it was meant to be dipped. The result is a very very feint positive.

I've done two further tests properly (dipped) and they are negative.

I'll do another test tomorrow to make sure but as I've not followed the instructions and have had two further negatives I wanted some advice on how likely it is I could be pregnant?

I'm sorry I know I should be playing the waiting game but I'm freaking out so any advice would be very welcome.

I can see the line you're talking about, but don't panic yet (I assume you don't want to be pregnant?). When you got your coil fitted, did they show you how to check the strings? Have you done this? When the coil fails it's nearly always because it's out of position, so if everything still feels in the right place it's much less likely that you've become pregnant.

Thank you for the response. I've never been able to feel the strings and I know this is bad but I read online it's not a problem so I haven't been back to the doctors again. I have had a smear in between and I assume they saw it but totally forgot to ask them to check placement.

So it could have moved. I'm aware how irresponsible this sounds but my focus has been on the kids and I stupidly haven't been back when I should have. I also didn't want to waste an appointment as I'm aware how stressed NHS resources are at the moment.

We have three children and don't feel we have the resources for another so yes this would certainly be unplanned!

Don't beat yourself up about it; I was super paranoid about checking them when I had a Mirena, but I think most women don't check them, so you haven't been unusually lax or anything! If you've never been able to feel them that's better than if you had been able to and now can't. But you are going to need to take another test tomorrow. Do you have more tests in the house?

Thank you for the responses Lisa. I had a very clear positive this morning so that's one less thing to worry about.

I love babies but I've definitely got enough to look after!
