My partner and I have been TTC since February this year with no luck. My periods have been extremely irregular and every time I take an ovulation test it's negative so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? I'm not an older woman (I've only just turned 25) and my partner has just turned 32.

We know we can't see anyone yet as we haven't been trying for long enough but I'm getting a little worried as I kind of expected it to happen by now. Neither of us have any medical problems I.e PCOS etc.

I have never been pregnant and my partner has never gotten anyone pregnant in the past.

I'm kind of worrying which I think probably isn't helping. Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice or guidance to help us conceive. Anything would be appreciated x

Try not to worry Flowers we started ttc in February 2016 and baby is due February 2018. The GP told us the majority of couples conceive within the first year and most of those that don't, are successful in the second year. It's so easy to feel like it will never happen but if you're both healthy then at this stage there's no reason to think there's a problem Smile

Thank you that makes me feel a bit better. Congratulations x

It took us over a year for our first.
The best advice is to keep going. Lots of sex as much as possible.

I have also been trying since February for no.2 with no luck... so theoretically me and dh are fertile as we have DS! (Also not older, I'm 26 and dh is 28). Sometimes no rhyme or reason...

Try a clear blue ovulation kit or temping if you're not having any joy with OPK. It might be that everything is great and you're just miss timing your sex or on the rarity that you are not ovulating. I would think if you have regular cycles you won't have any problems sorting when you ovulate and then timing sex around that date. BUT don't worry, it's completely normal to take a year or even two!

Thank you all for your replies. Makes me feel a lot better.

I guess hearing of so many people accidentally falling pregnant made me think it would happen fast.

My partner and I are currently having regular sex (every 2 - 3 days) so will continue doing this and hopefully it'll happen. Good luck to all of you trying too

You hear about allllllll the mishaps and the one time wonders. Reality is lots of people struggle behind closed doors. I've been TTC a year now for our first baby. We lost one at 10 weeks in February. It's a hard road but you'll get there. X

Hi. Been trying since January. Tested yesterday, another bfn, cried hysterically in the shower, feeling better now. It is really disappointing and disheartening but the GP has told me that it is very normal and that we should book an appointment by Christmas if it hasn't happened yet.
My best friend's sister tried for years and turns out she wasn't releasing eggs properly and as soon as she started the medication (I'm assuming clomid) conceived in the first month.
I'm sure we will conceive at some point, and we are definitely not alone, it's just something people don't talk about much. Flowers

100% agree it's something people don't talk about. I think a lot of couples take 6+ months but as they haven't announced that they're TTC you just assume it's been quick. It sounds like you've got it covered with regular sex so just keep doing what you're doing. Don't put your life on hold either - if there something you've always wanted to do then get out and do it and it'll focus your attention elsewhere.
