Difficulty conceiving no.1 what happened with no.2

It took about 2 years for me to conceive my DD following clomid and then a lap and dye. I never got another period after the lap and dye. (Pregnant) Even though nothing was diagnosed on the lap and dye it did seem to do the trick.

We are now starting to think about trying for no.2 and I'm starting to feel anxious about whether it will ever happen.

Although before DD periods ranged from 24-48 days, since they have come back they seem regular at 30 days. So am hoping that is a positive sign. They came back at 4 months post partum even though I was breast feeding. I stopped breast feeding completely 3 weeks ago.

I am interested in hearing good and bad stories from people in my position, to get a balanced view.

Not between 1 and 2 but between 2 and 3. Number 2 tried for eighteen months and eventually had a HyCoSy. Fell pregnant that cycle. Fell pregnant with no 3 first cycle of trying Smile

@AWhistlingWoman lovely! Here is hoping I am that lucky. I kind of am staying positive. I'm hoping that I haven't taken any hormonal contraceptives that will also help. I will hold onto your story and remind myself that it can happen! Thanks for sharing

Aw, I remember being quite nervous when we started trying to ttc DC3. I know that eighteen months is not very long in the grand scheme of things but it is the endless not knowing if it will ever happen. Fingers crossed for you!

Took three years to conceive DD1, conceived naturally, we were waiting for treatment. DD2 conceived second cycle of trying.

I had clomid and ovarian diathermy before conceiving our first dc. It took about 2 years to get pregnant.

I was pregnant again before she turned one! Sadly we lost that pregnancy however I was pregnant again in a couple of months with ds. There are 22 months between them.

I had/have pcos so wasn't having regular periods before Dd1. They did return after she was born and again after ds. After ds we weren't 'trying' but weren't using any contraceptive. Periods went awol again after a while but I did still manage to conceive dd2 just before ds turned 3.

I really think being pregnant kick started my system. It worked much better for a while before slipping again over time. Having said that since dd2 was born (and she's 7) I've had a copper coil (so no hormones) and have had more regular cycles than I've had since puberty! Typical now I'm not wanting to get pregnant!

I have pcos, took 2 years to conceive DS1 but did so naturally in the end. Then tried for 4 years for DC2 but sadly never happened, had an unsuccessful lap and a dye as they couldn't get past my cervix and they wouldn't give me clomid without it. As a a result we decided to call it quits as we didn't want a big age gap and for us a gap of nearly 5 years or more would be too big.

#1 took three and a half years of TTC, laparoscopy (removal of endometriosis and one blocked fallopian tube), hormone therapy for three months to treat any remaining endo, and then IVF (successful on first cycle).

#2 was conceived naturally, without TTC, when #1 had just turned one year old (at which point I had had two periods and only just stopped breastfeeding).

I cannot explain how shocked we were at #2 being a happy accident after the heartache trying for #1 :)
