Me and my partner have been trying for a baby for around 6 months and haven't got lucky. We are trying to find something that might be able to help but we are so unsure on what to get! If anyone can help please do!!

I've tried loads of brands, including some very expensive ones. I'm currently taking Pregnacare conception along with a fair few other things as I have low ovarian reserve.

You should be taking folic acid at the very least though op. It's recommended you take it at least theee months before even ttc to get it into your system. Otherwise you're pore leaving any baby at the risk of nural tube defects.

Neural even...

Also conception tablets won't of themselves help you conceive. They'll just ensure your body is receiving the correct vitamins for if/when you do.

It's really important you start to folic acid now. It's recommended to begin taking folic acid 6 months before you start ttc. Vitamin D is also recommended, particularly if you're in the U.K. You don't need any other vitamins if you have a healthy, varied diet but there are conception brands out there that have additional vitamins if your diet isn't brilliant. It's up to you but you must begin folic acid now and I'd just start the vitamin d as well to be on the safe side. Best of luck x

I just took folic acid, ate healthily and cut down on alcohol.

Agree with the above about folic acid and vitamin d. I take a multivitamin and minerals supplement from boots and my DH takes it as well, it contains zinc which is apparently helpful for sperm count and quality. If nothing else, it will keep us topped up with vitamins and minerals for our everyday lives!

Georgia can you tell us a bit about your cycle, is it regular? How long is it and when do you typically ovulate? You can affect your cycle with some supplements but you might not need to.

6 months is a normal period of time for it to take though so try not to worry yet, easy to say I know!

georgia00 · 14/08/2017 12:37

McTufty, my cycle is pretty normal, it's just got the the point where me and my partner are kind of getting a bit annoyed that it hasn't happened yet😂 I think what the best thing to do is take folic acid & vitamin d, but I heard seven seas trying for a baby is good?

You should be taking folic acid as an absolute minimum. Ideally BEFORE TTC. This is VERY important. And vitamin D. Nothing else is needed if you have regular cycles. Are you timing DTD to the correct time in your cycle. It might be worth doing some essential reading about the process as I feel you might not be up to date on the latest info. The NHS website is a good start. Or whatever country you're in. Good luck!

georgia00 · 14/08/2017 21:02

Okay so looks like folic acid &a vitamin D are the ones then!

Yep!! But please note that these will only help you to create a good environment for a baby to grow, they won't magically make you pregnant. Do you know when you ovulate in your cycle? Are you having regular sex around and before that time?
