so I had one depo shot in January as the lady had told me it would stop my heavy and painful periods for 3 months. sounded great to me, i thought. she hadn't told me that it actually lasts a lot longer, up to 1 or 2 years. it's now august and I haven't had another since, yet I've been bleeding quite heavily most days, and when im not heavily bleeding, I'll have light brown bleeding. bleeding was so bad the Dr prescribed me tranexamic acid. me and my husband are TTC with no luck obviously. is it even possible when I'm bleeding so much? does it look like I'm ovulating? I really dont know what causes all the blood. is there any point in TTC, it is really emotional for me and my husband. I'm very angry at myself for having the injection as I said no so many times but the nurse kept pushing me to have it. my periods were regular before this. now I bleed most days. any women who've had the pill after situations like this and thought it had helped them? I'm also wondering if clomid will make a difference at this stage. thanks to anyone who answers. I'm losing the will to live! x

I had one depo shot in the september, ran out in the december. Didnt get a period til the following june and it was further 16 months before i got my bfp! So dont give up yet, i would just get it in your head that it is unlikely you will conceive this year and take the pressure off yourself. I fell pregnant the month me and dh decided to give up and me take on a new job and had sex once just because we wanted too!

You should have been referred to a gynaecologist at that time if you have heavy and painful periods rather than being given depo (which can also cause periods to cease for months on end).

The cause of heavy and painful periods needs to be properly determined but often endometriosis is to blame. Depo is not going to have any effect on endometriosis if it is present.

I would insist to your GP that you are now referred to a gynae for further evaluation as you are also now bleeding most days. I would also keep a daily pain and symptom diary in the meantime as this could give the gynae clues.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost. I would not concentrate on either getting clomid (you may not need this anyway) or ttc at this stage due to the bleeding; that needs to be brought under control first.
