How long after miscarriage did you catch again?

I know everyone is different. I'm just trying to get some ideas really. I conceived ds really fast and felt very lucky.
Then 17 months later caught with dc2 on the first month trying. I felt too lucky this time and unfortunately last week I had a miscarriage.
I'm gutted but we have decided we want to start trying again asap.
The bleeding has stopped as of today and we will probably start trying again next week.
I'm just curious as to how long it took people to catch after a mc
Thanks

I'm sorry for your loss. I had a mmc in February so I can sympathise.

I'm still not pregnant however I didn't try straight away as I wanted to grieve and allow my body to recover.

It is possible for you to fall pregnant straight away. You however run a small risk of miscarrying again if it's without having a full cycle as your body has gone through trauma and your lining may not be thick enough. This risk is completely and utterly unmeasurable and a lot of women go on to have wonderful healthy pregnancies.

I conceived 1st pregnancy straight away. Had a mc at 13 weeks due to a blighted ovum. It then took us 6-7 months to fall pregnant again. Very frustrating. But we got there in the end!

I think it took me a long time to move on and grieve as I had got to the 'safe' stage so I thought.

I've had two early miscarriages before 6 weeks, and after each one I became pregnant 4 or 5 months later.

I hope things go well for you. Sorry for your loss.

Natural MC in March at 7+2 weeks. Bleeding stopped by 8+6.

Waited a month for a period (which came spot on time), then back to TTC again.

BFP came on second cycle of TTC (which was the same as the pregnancy we miscarried, which shocked us as I'm 40)

physicskate · 19/07/2017 17:25

Ttc for about four months then had the first chemical. Then ttc for about another 8 months for chemical number two. Four months on, starting investigations.

I had miscarriages before conceiving both DCs - caught on the next cycle with DC1 with no period in between, then on the 5th cycle after things got back to normal with DC2. Good luck and sorry for your loss.

We found out in Sept '13 we had a mmc, due to genetic issues we were told not to ttc until a genetic overview in April'14 we accidental conceived in January '14. That resulted in a baby!

DaisyChainsForever · 19/07/2017 17:34

I had a mmc which resulted in a d&c, I then fell after my 2nd period.

My doctor told me that this is an old idea that is now known to be untrue. There is no increased risk from conceiving again before your period comes.

I've had three miscarriages (all early - two five weeks, one at seven) back-to-back, ie. every time I've conceived again without waiting for a period (which is why I asked the question, of course!). Waiting for testing now so not TTC again for a few months.

I had a 5 week miscarriage beginning of april and just got my 2-3 weeks on clear blue

Shredtheevidence · 19/07/2017 19:14

Mmc in the early November, waiting one cycle then fell pregnant on boxing day. Currently trying to get the end result to sleep!!!

MouseLove · 19/07/2017 19:49

Hey Lisa. I'd not heard that before either but my specialist at the hospital said it makes common sense as a reason for reoccurring miscarriages if the body hasn't recovered from a trauma. The womb lining needs time to regenerate especially if you've bled a lot during miscarriage (I was lucky and didn't). He gave me some names for research online as I came across a bit nerdy but all are unsupported as obviously miscarriage is often unexplained and very very common. It can be something as little as a ph balance being off to even having a bug. We are so complex.

shamoffour · 19/07/2017 19:50

3 Mcs and 4dc. I conceived 2 of my dc immediately after mcs. I didn't have a period first.

As I said, my doctor (the consultant I saw about recurrent miscarriage) said it was something they used to believe and so many doctors still did (because it was what they were taught), but that it is not current medical thinking. One study actually showed that pregnancies within three months of a miscarriage have the best success rates. She said that it's true that your body may not be ready to carry again next cycle but that if that happens you simply won't conceive.

I'm not being argumentative for the sake of it, but I know that a lot of women (like me) worried that they had caused their miscarriages by conceiving too quickly and she told me that that categorically was not the case, which gave me a little bit of peace.

mintich · 19/07/2017 19:56

6 months

LisaSimpsonsbff · 19/07/2017 20:16

(oh, and when I had the scan for my third one - which was missed - the doctor commented on my 'lovely thick lining'. Obviously didn't do any good, though, because the embryo measured 5+1 and I was 6+4)

thenightsky · 19/07/2017 20:23

6 months for me.

WhyTheHeckMe · 19/07/2017 20:26

Thanks everyone this is really interesting to read.
I'm sorry about all the mc you've already suffered, it sucks big time. I think when you have an easy healthy pregnancy first time it almost gives you a lot of false hope second time around.
If i catch again I will never take a second of being pregnant for granted again.
Just want my baby back so much.
Congratulations to those of you that have gone on to have healthy successful pregnancies it's really reassuring to hear :)
