Cycle changes

Hello everyone. Please help as I am getting worried.

We have been trying for the last 8/9 months. I started taking protein last month as a part of healthier eating (deficient previously) and my cycles went from being fertile 4 days after my period with 13 days fertility detected on dual hormone clear blue tests to becoming fertile 8 days after cycle with 2 days fertility. I've also gained weight very quickly despite smaller portions and healthier eating. Any ideas? Please help!

Well, you weren't actually fertile for all of those 8 days. Sperm only live for 5 days and the egg has to be fertilised within about 24 hours...

Stress and small changes can change things, but I wouldn't be concerned. Hormones are mysterious things!!

You only drop 1 egg each month unless you're on medication to alter this. Which means you are actually only fertile for around 24 hrs. However, sperm can live for between 0-5 days with optimum life being 3 days. So ideally you need to have sperm waiting for when you drop an egg.

In a normal, perfect cycle that's day 14. And you'll go on to have a 28 day total cycle. However you ideally need to pin point when you usually ovulate for maximum effort. It sounds like you are confused which is why you may be missing the optimal time for conception. If you can, sex every other day of your cycle and extra during ovulation will increase your odds.

How long is your cycle normally? And on which day do you think you ovulate?

Day 14 yesterday and according to my fertility app it was the only fertile day. Cycle varies from 33-39 days!

Fertility apps. What info are you putting into it? They are just having a guess as they aren't plugged into your body (and everyone is a bit different).

If you cycle is that long, you are likely ovulating about two weeks before the start of af, so likely to be about cd19-25 with cycles that long...

I'm only entering in info from ovulation sticks. I know that I won't be fertile for all those days but it's a strange change for 8 months to have a response of 'fertile' for nearly two weeks to having peak for one day. Very strange.
